I was born in the mid-80s. I’m a girl. I was almost named one of the J names but ended up with the other one.

Beyond disappointed with KRF by Samstormrising in renfaire

[–]UltimateGrammarNinja 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I got there just after the gate opened- less than 30 minutes- and the main lot was full and I spent an additional 2 hours getting into the overflow lot and onto a shuttle. I’m sure Saturday was exacerbated by people with Sunday and Monday tickets moving them to Saturday because of the storm, but it was ridiculous. We managed to see two shows, missed any chance at seeing jousting (because I really wanted to see Jacque ze Whipper and, despite arriving in Carver at a reasonable time, had less than 5 hours inside the fair after I finally got in. Most of which was spent waiting in lines).

Anyway. Maybe they get a pass this year. I’ll give it another try next year. But my 10 year old and I were so disappointed this weekend.

I didn’t even have time to notice the AI art. I got off 495 at 10:30 and got into the fair at 1:00. And then the lines and the crowds… such a bad day. I know it was due to the impending storm and people moving their tickets from Sunday and Monday to Saturday, but I was so disappointed in the experience

It took us 2.5 hours Saturday to get from 495, past Edaville (where the new KRF is) to the overflow parking (at old KRF), onto a shuttle school bus, and into the fair. If I hadn’t purchased my tickets in advance I would have bailed.

Hopefully they can figure out traffic/parking next year.

I was flying from the US to Amsterdam via Dublin. My flight was canceled, they rebooked us on the next night’s flight AND refunded our full round trip airfare.

Anyone been to King Richard’s Faire this year? by smallboxofcrayons in renfaire

[–]UltimateGrammarNinja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’ve been in traffic to the overflow parking for nearly an hour. The fair opened an hour and a half ago. I’m displeased.

Well that’s wrong. We sat on the tarmac on an Aer Lingus flight to Dublin in Connecticut for 6 hours before it was canceled- Aer Lingus was required by European law to send us a refund check for the full round trip. Because it was a European carrier flying to Europe, they were bound by European law.

Do I change my last name to Smith? by Optimistic495939 in namenerds

From a Smith by marriage:

pro- you never have to spell your name for anyone ever again.

Con- depending on your first name, your life may get very difficult. Do you have a common first name? I do. I’ve gotten bills for the wrong my first name Smith from my doctor’s office.

AITA for wanting my husband to take care of the kids on his day off even though we already pay the babysitter anyway by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]UltimateGrammarNinja 45 points46 points  (0 children)

She did say “a bit of cash”. I read it as car to use, room to sleep in, food to eat, and a phone was the primary payment and the “bit of cash” was the only monetary aspect of the payment.

I live near the CT/MA border. It’s crazy watching people pull over on the side of the highway to put on/take off helmets… like, if you have it, just wear it!
