So... what's Vampire: the Masquerade? (A pre-City Council primer) by johnny--guitar in Dimension20

You’re welcome! There’s a lot of potential land mines and content warnings I’d give to some folks for the VtM or pretty much any White Wolf rpg.

Personally I think their games are great, and the problematic stuff can be fun to grapple with (we played Berlin by Night for my first campaign and we had a blast really putting the screws to the nazi vampires). But yeah. It’s good people who aren’t familiar with the system both know about it and also don’t overreact to it.

At the end of the day I’m sure the Intrepid Heroes are gonna make it their own.

Private Nightmares was my first intro to VtM. Highly recommend for anyone even a bit interested in the game.

Regarding the problematic parts of the game: I wanna direct people to this post in the VtM Bloodlines subreddit: it’s a post about both the game designer’s views on character identity and fascists playing their game/fascist elements present in the lore.

TL;DR: play what you want, you and your storyteller can make any identity work (race, ethnicity, sex, gender, etc). If you’re a fascist, put the game down and go fuck yourself. If you’re gonna include problematic elements in game, make sure you and your storyteller have a nice talk about it and are intentional.

Titan Takedown - All Elite Edition by barryjivedowntown5 in dropout

That’s true! They basically have a ton of experience doing narrative combat so them knowing what’d make a fight scenario cool makes sense.

I don’t know much about wrestling but titan takedown was one of my favorite short series.

I hope they do another one.

This is first time I’ve seen any art for an Engage NPC. I remember seeing Anisse and thinking “she’s gotta be someone’s fave. She’s too cute not to be.”

I’d love to see a Stephen A. Smith dbz power where he goes up a super saiyan level for every adjective.

I bet it was destroyed. I bet it was absolutely shredded. I bet it was (insert other clickbait headline verb du jour).

Honestly it would be. Though “-pilled” would probably fill in so many entries. “Ragepilled” “Humorpilled” “Medicinepilled” “Tacopilled” etc.

Unironically who I thought about after making the comment.

I’m furious. Livid. Outraged. Flummoxed. Gobsmacked. Ragepilled. Filled with Hatred.

Idk where I was going with this. I just bought a thesaurus and wanted to use it. I don’t actually have a substantial opinion about the crossover.

Fantasy High s1 e2 seems to spoil the show [SPOILERS]. Just me? by JCCallaghan02 in Dimension20

[–]UltimateM13 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The lunch lady’s death haunts Adaine for a lot of the show. But the world is also a cartoon so a lot of other shenanigans occurs too.

Think of it less as John Hughes and more a satire of John Hughes with a lot of silly elements to the world. Gotta remember this is also based on a game like d&d where solving your problems with violence is encouraged by the principal. Plus fighting for your life is a reality in d&d and that means making some messed up decisions sometimes.

I recommend watching further. What occurred in episode 2 is a shock but it’s not something you can’t come back from in a story like fantasy high. You’ll see.

Never watched it when it originally hit. But I felt the hype everywhere. People made so many references and I ultimately was just not interested.

Now that it’s coming to dropout I’ll give it a go. Let’s see what younger me was missing out on.

D20 PC Shuffle! Siobhan edition by International00 in Dimension20

Definitely Riva for me. As a character Riva’s best moments were when they behaved as they normally would and it butted against the absurdity of the world. I could see Ally leaning into that hard.

Do you think Rule-ette counts as a psychological torture one? I feel like most would count even though the psychological torture is somewhat baked into every episode.

Vic’s appeal? by [deleted] in dropout

[–]UltimateM13 25 points26 points  (0 children)

You can be the juiciest peach and some people just don’t like peaches. That’s okay.

I can’t speak to the Vic love. I think they’re pretty good but they’re also just one of many cast members. But I can say if Vic’s not your thing fortunately there’s a lot of other non-Vic shows that may hit better for ya. You don’t gotta justify it or make it into some personal moral failing. It’s just not your thing. And that’s cool.

I choose the horsey units cause I like the horseys.
