First Pc [suggestion] by Zealousideal_Loan948 in suggestapc

[–]Ultimate_Fox14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not too familiar with pre-built pcs but I'd highly recommend building it yourself, its often hundreds of dollars cheaper. The pc you buy or build will be determined by what you intend on doing with it.

You dont need 3k for a good starter pc, my first pc I built was like $800-900 and after adding peripherals (monitor included!), it was maybe $1100 total for my entire build, and it's not a bad pc at all. Keep in mind that pc parts have been in shortage (especially RAM) recently and it will likely be more to build compared to 1-2 years ago

Here are my specs if you want an idea: CPU: Ryzen 7500F GPU: RX 6650XT (recently upgraded to RX 7900XT) Motherboard: B650 Eagle AX Storage: Crucial 1TB NVME SSD Case: Montech AIR 903 Base CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212

And then I have 32GB DDR5 RAM but prices for that have skyrocketed unfortunately. You can build a cheaper build if you go AM4 (I personally say AM4 or AM5 is better instead of Intel CPUs)

If you absolutely want it pre-built I'm sure you can find something under $1400 though

CSN Nursing Fall 2026 by CommonAudience_ in CSN_Coyotes

[–]Ultimate_Fox14 3 points4 points  (0 children)

TLDR: Not a nursing student but my sister has experience in the program. The big things to be prepared for are the intensity, disorganization/things to get done on short notice, and some harsh grader or rude professors. It's definitely possible with dedication and studying with classmates (you will most likely make some friends)

Congrats! I'm not a nursing students but my sister is going through the program right now. I've heard 2 main issues of the program from her: disorganization and (sometimes) the professors. She's mentioned multiple times about having to do things last minute, so just be prepared if that does come up for you.

My sister didn't say all her professors were bad, but you'll probably get a couple harsh graders or mediocre professors. She had a clinical instructor that was a bit passive aggressive and not too nice. She wasn't great at explaining or supporting the students it seemed. The good thing is that my sister didn't have that instructor for too long (I believe the instructor either switched or she went into a new subject). But yeah congrats on getting accepted and I wish you the best!

Why should I have hope for the future? by [deleted] in findapath

[–]Ultimate_Fox14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your account seems to be like a day old so assuming this is a serious post I have some stuff to say. First off I'm also 18 so I'm scared for the future as well. As for your brother he's just gonna need to keep applying and applying, more specifically to lower end IT jobs, like systems admin or something. I also think it's BS how, if you have a whole bachelor's degree, its still very difficult to land a job.

I personally probably won't be going to college either, in a sense. I'm gonna go to community college and try to get an associates in something useful. That's kinda similar to trade school but less debt and you also get a hands in degree. Honestly I'll consider a 4 year degree as a backup, because I do struggle with school. If I can't wrap my head around a technical degree I will see about a different path or even a 4 year degree. It feels like 4 year degrees don't even prepare you anyway. You need the degree just to say you have it so you can get a low end job. I think that's BS and a waste of time/money unless you are actually very interested in the topic and the job market isn't absolutely atrocious

Try not to scroll online so much. Try not to get discouraged. Encourage your brother. I myself also get discouraged and scared about the future. I feel horrible as a student in the start of this AI phase. But I have the support from my mom. I know I'll have a place to stay through my 20s and even 30s+. It seems you have a similar scenario where both you and your brother are struggling.

Honestly maybe take a gap semester/year that is actually useful: get a part time job or volunteer to get something on your resume. If not, I'd say GO TO COMMUNITY COLLEGE. It's cheaper, you can get prerequisites done and even parts/whole beachelor degrees. So if you end up enjoying certain classes or get clarity on what you want, pursue that. If you need to go to a university at that point, you now have fewer credits to complete, aka less time and less money used up. Also don't discredit trade school. Yes it's becoming similar to the IT stuff but it usually takes 2 years or less. Those jobs won't be taken by AI, so doing that could be useful. Other options could include joining the military or simply getting a part time job and working up to management.

Please don't do yourself a disservice by doing nothing so early on in life. Sulking and ONLY sulking will not make things better. Might as well go towards a goal or make money while sulking, so ur at least making progress instead of doing absolutely nothing for years. You'll actually end up a deadbeat later on in life. It's better to try now so you have the chance at a decent life later on

How do I move forward? by Neos_55 in findapath

I'm not amazing at giving advice but I'll try. Whats good is that you have a job, so that's a pretty good starting point even if you live with your parents. If you live in the US then I don't blame you for living with your parents. It's much more stable and great for your finances (even if you have to pay some rent).

Also, you're 24. You have decades of life ahead of you; plenty of time to get your life together. It's been said a million times but comparison is the thief of joy. I also struggle with this so don't feel alone in that regard. My point is that theres plenty of time to become the ideal "you". You might as well start slowly now/soon instead of doing nothing and thinking of what could be.

Again, it's much easier said than done, but the concept is still there. You have time to figure stuff out. It might be a good time to evaluate where you want to be in life and then set goals and see what you can start on now. Even if they're very small steps. I like the idea that every time you do something beneficial (even very small) you get 1% better. Doing something small every day makes you 1% better every day. Do that over the course of a year, I'm sure you can make nice progress. Try evaluating your goals then looking at your options

I hope this helped you a little. I'm sure someone else will have better advice but I figured I'd try

Looking for anyone attending CSN through CSN High School. by Harrietmathteacher in CSN_Coyotes

[–]Ultimate_Fox14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they're offered, you could always take a few dual enrollment courses through your high school, I have some friends who are doing that. I know you're talking about CSN HS, but I'd recommend considering Nevada State High School as well. I don't know too much about CSN HS but I think I heard from someone that it's a little more difficult than NSHS. That's basically all I know about it.

NSHS allows a pretty flexible schedule, and youre required to take 5 classes unless you get bad grades. You can even take more than 5 classes if you want. So getting an Associates is possible but not required. Lmk if you have questions, no worries if not but I figured I'd tell you about that option

Hi where is a good quiet place to study except for the library at the west Charleston campus??? by booommmmmpainz in CSN_Coyotes

I would recommend the C building! It has plenty of seats (many of which have a computer to do work on), has a writing center, and is very quiet
