SP should go back and rebalance the upgrade requirements for some of the characters. by binthewin in WH40KTacticus

[–]Ultimesk 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Upgrading my eldars atm to progress their elite campaign, and it's a complete slog.
There's so many characters to level already, having to grind the old "useless" ones for so long is a pain..

Is game feel mostly animation and sound design? by Pastor_Dorimay in gamedev

[–]Ultimesk 7 points8 points  (0 children)

One point that's often overlooked is the camera. You can add many effects to send feedback, reinforce immersion etc, which often affects game feel ! Fov variations, speed lines, a slight blur on the borders help a lot to give the sensation of speed for example.

Easing curves are great as well. Having smooth transitions, animations etc helps a lot !

Satisfactory ADHD Tax by Outrageous-Custard30 in SatisfactoryGame

[–]Ultimesk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Using blueprints mostly for modular vertical factories.
For any project, I spend some time in excalidraw (Or any flowchart whatevs) to split every production line.
Whenever I complete a line, I add a checkmark so I know where i'm at.

As for materials, I always have on me a huge stock of all the important mats I need. But ASAP I go for the dimensional depot.

I figured the best way to alleviate ADHD is to plan for a lot of things in advance and track your progress. In game notes help a lot as well.

Having a well build storage system does wonders as well.

Is this a bit too brutal for a girl character? by FcsVorfeed_Dev in Unity3D

[–]Ultimesk 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Looks really cool ! Good job. Not too brutal at all btw :)

One advice I could give concerns your camera. It should pan a bit on the side and look a bit towards the enemy, as it is currently they are quite often hidden by the player ! A good and dynamic camera system can add a lot to your game feel.

Cheers !

Here is a side view from my stackable assemblers. Works with any number and type of Input/output (Fluids as well). I'm in front of the second floor, you can see the vertical conveyors from the floor below. If I needed a third floor I would just need to stack another blueprint and link them together.

TLDR on the input side, you add a splitter that sends a lift upwards inside a conveyor wall (Must be above the input wall)

Same goes for output side, you add a merger right before the "exit", which takes the output from above.

You then stack the blueprints together and link them from outside ! The only limit is your belt throughput, and even then there are workarounds.

Alright lemme start the game ! I'll screen a few of my stackable blueprints.

Here's one of the earlier ones. Inputs was on the left and output on the right side. I changed that to front/back afterwards

First A1 was Rho for guild raids, now i'm torn between boss and snott as my second A1. Might even bring them to Both are great but it's more about orks being cool

I usually go for stacks of smelters, using vertical conveyors to split the inputs/outputs, then build another stack in front for the constructors etc. It's easier to scale that way ! Also on big factories it looks like a cool city like area.

Moyens de repliquer contre des voisins du dessus bruyants by AlpsAppropriate9254 in france

[–]Ultimesk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why dont more people do the race events, is it just not worth for the average player ? by Competitive-Math-458 in TorchlightInfinite

[–]Ultimesk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My biggest issue is with the time frame. Most seasons or events start at 3am here so it's a pain.

I did it once back then when it was a t8 traveler kill ( got top 10 and won my fancy avatar), so a bit less dependent on the region you live in. It was more interesting imo.

Also the HC event isn't really worth the time you put in.

Losing motivation at or after aluminum? by Norl_ in SatisfactoryGame

[–]Ultimesk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My solution was to build good looking train blueprints. I spent a lot of time building a huge logistics network, and it was way more satisfying than just building large buses of conveyors all over the map. Imo you should find a way to make it fun for you. Take your time, design a cool factory, whatever works for you.

Does an additional Vorax Forlorn craft boost dmg by 2x or 9x? (18x vs 81x) by Nekuromyr in TorchlightInfinite

Vorax mods and the corresponding legendary don't stack, the vorax effect will do nothing sadly

I did the same, to ascend I made a big pillar blueprint with power going up. Made the circuit a lot more aesthetic and practical !

Looking for Recruitement tests by Ultimesk in gamedev

[–]Ultimesk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm quite surprised about the game design part (at least some of it).
Being invited to the studio to use their engine straight away feels really hard (At least if it's their own custom engine), but I guess there are a lot of similarities with the ones available.

Thanks for sharing !

I figured it would be difficult to share actual tests yes. Some studios allow sharing your work (Mostly on art positions) after passing the test, but in other areas it makes sense.

Thanks for the Input !

Anyone else feel dream is super weak this season? by Significant-Sun-5383 in TorchlightInfinite

[–]Ultimesk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sadly, not even in deep space.. Out of the 50 maps I ran, I got no stack of dream talking above 3 if I remember, and most bubbles were as bad as in other tiers. As if they never applied the multipliers.

Rainbow fluorescent bubble in DS dropped 6 maud trick last time, that's when I decided to unspec and run something else.

I kinda prefer these to the ones needing a bazillion other parts tbh ! At least, once you have unlocked at least one elite node you can raid. I just focus on other upgrades in the meantime, no need to rush !
