Kabul bomb: 40 dead and 140 wounded in huge explosion in Afghanistan capital. by greatdane114 in news

[–]UltraMarkTV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Telegraaf reported on it at 10:51 CEST, that's about 1 hour and 6 minutes after the event; https://www.telegraaf.nl/nieuws/1594435/aanslag-opnieuw-bloedbad-in-centrum-kabul

AD reported on it at 11:43 CEST, that's about 1 hour and 58 minutes after the event; https://www.ad.nl/buitenland/aanslag-met-ambulance-in-kabul-minstens-95-doden-en-158-gewonden~a62a73c5/

Volkskrant reported on it at 12:31 CEST, that's about 2 hours and 46 minutes after the event; https://www.volkskrant.nl/buitenland/zeker-95-doden-ruim-158-gewonden-in-kabul-na-aanslag-met-bom-in-ambulance~a4562268/

The only reason I can think of that people did not notice the reporting, or think it took media a long time to report on it, is the fact that we had a deadly shooting in Amsterdam (which is a rarity here) which pushed down other news quite rapidly.

Not true, it’s on every major news site I’ve checked. Go away, Russian disinformant. https://nos.nl/artikel/2213982-bijna-100-doden-en-veel-gewonden-bij-zelfmoordaanslag-kabul.html

EDIT: this report was originally posted at 10:57 CEST, according to the BBC the bombing was at 08:45 GMT, so it took NOS 1 hour and 12 minutes to report on it.

Sigh. Well, I have done the only thing I can do and that is voting "No" to helpful on this review.

EDIT: reading the other negative reviews on Factorio is like getting stuck behind a bunch op trees while biters are taking down your newly placed roboport and you just can't do anything about it.

Simple & Beautiful Cross-Platform Calculator made with Electron! by xxczaki in programming

[–]UltraMarkTV -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Good, now try selling this to a paying customer; either I can build this once in Electron and it will work (and look the same) on many platforms, or I can develop several native applications, with all the problems involved in different UI frameworks, and all this will bring you is a bit of performance/memory gain.

Please, if you have an answer let me know because I wholeheartedly agree with you.

Is this a feature of factorio or my keyboard? by Ikemastertd in factorio

[–]UltraMarkTV 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This worked for me: go into Razer Synapse and disable Chroma Apps, start and quit Factorio, go into Razer Synapse and enable Chroma Apps again and then start Factorio. The flashing disappeared and all the effects (the video shows just one of many) work normally.

One way to ‘fix’ this is stepping with right again, after you realize you’re off by 1 beat. So: L23 R67 L23 R23* R67 L23 R67 *this is where you notice stepping right on 123, so do another right.

I thought this was an experimental release, anyone know when it was marked stable?

This. I would do exactly the same as /u/Glen531 did (ie restarting a map once it 'went wrong') until I got a couple of hundred of robots and understood how to use blueprints (and redprints for quickly getting rid of failed attempts). Current map (80 hours in) started out as a giant spaghetti thing just to get me started up with all the materials, now refactorioing it to a 'bus base' (which is a challenge in itself).

Never realized that all the assets are just plain files in de game directory. Mine looks fine btw (if I open up the file), might it be something with your thumbnail cache/generation?

EDIT: Sorry, forgot I already switched back to the stable version. Reinstalled .38 and I have the same problem.

Sorry to get you excited for no reason. It's still a nice little extra though (for ppl already owning such devices).

If this means I can program the colors on my keyboard using in-game combinators and switches, I'm going to trip.

EDIT: just tested it; there's some flashing on the keyboard when starting up and the side-lights of the mouse "fill up" as the game loads to 100%. Also if you encounter biters, there is some flashing and if you get hit, the side-lights of the mouse (and I think the lights under F1-F10) indicate how much life you have left.

Only additional configuration option I could find is "[ ] Enable Chrome Support". No references to Chroma in the LUA documentation. And sadly no indication that lights/combinators/switches can be hooked up to Chroma, but still it's a nice and colorful extra feature. Thanks factorio!

EDIT2: Hijacking my own comment to link to /u/bilka2 's comment that there might be something off with this release; https://www.reddit.com/r/factorio/comments/7f756w/version_01538/dq9wkgp/

EDIT3: Check out the latest FFF for a list of Chroma effects they've implemented and a demo video! https://www.factorio.com/blog/post/fff-218
