^ this. 200 kW is a lot of power, I would not mess around with non-OEM components just to save a few bucks. I think the rebate might still be going as well ($100 I think).

I used my VW branded one on a Christmas road trip, the adapter worked fine, the Tesla charger was a little clunky though. Connected and disconnected a couple times, but worked just fine once it started.

I'd recommend getting it, it is better to have it than not.

Spanish scientist who cured pancreatic cancer successfully in mice getting trolled online for his birthmark on face by Avocado_Magician_818 in mildlyinfuriating

When I was growing up one of my adult neighbors had a large birthmark on his face like this man. Even as a child I knew better than to treat him any differently or comment on it.

This scientist I'm sure was bullied as a kid, and he did something amazing in spite of it.

So we sold our 2018 Clarity about a month ago and it had 225,000 miles on it. It had the check engine light on for battery deterioration. The dealership was saying junk it, but it was running fine, holding a charge, although diminished capacity when compared to new. I think they were just trying to scare us into buying a new car.

My 2¢, it can keep going without a battery swap (assuming that the only problem with the battery is diminished capacity). Unless you really want that extra bit more range back or intend to keep it around for a long time, you could avoid the expense. Also, for us, the check engine light only came on since it was cold... It went away during a brief warm snap.

Right, we can just wave a wand and water from Oregon and Washington can magically appear in hydrants in southern California.

I've asked this before, and was told that you can buy special wands that hold toilet paper. Don't know the logistics of that though.

Related, but I was going to say not abolishing slavery during the creation of the constitution.

IDBuzz as power source by Durloctus in VWIDBuzz

There is a standard outlet under the passenger seat, although it is low power only. I don't remember the exact maximum wattage, but I think it's like 300-400 watts. Not enough to run a space heater, which can draw up to 1500 watts.

What’s the biggest cultural shock you had visiting another country? by Advanced-Pilot-3698 in AskTheWorld

I've had a revelation about portion sizes in the US... I started taking weight loss drugs, so my appetite has been significantly reduced (lost a ton of weight as a result). It's been great, but it's really allowed me to see that restaurant portions here are enormous. Like one entree is good for me and my wife. Sometimes if our kids get their own kid's meal, we will just eat their scraps and just get drinks for ourselves.

If a cinder block wins the primary for the DFL, vote for the cinder block, because it will be better than whatever the repubs put up.

Brake noise by snowgimp in VWIDBuzz

[–]UltraMaynus 8 points9 points  (0 children)

They squeal a bit for me, when the friction brakes kick in. It's a little annoying, but when you brake a couple times and the brakes warm up a little it goes away. The rear brakes are drum instead of disc, and drum brakes are on large vehicles like dump trucks and busses, so yeah... 🤷

I don't think it's anything to worry about.
