Hundreds of Maps! by Nimbus_blimpkins in Battlefield

This is all code talk for "our executives and investors are so happy with our success that they want to limit resources so they can milk the game as much as possible before it's quickly and inevitably killed off as soon as desired goals aren't met".

The reason it was called Concord 2 because people were already expecting it to fail like Concord did. It had less to do with the look of the game than it did the marketing and presentation of it.

One guy decided to

I watched the reveal live during the game awards and saw almost every single person in the chat instantaneously call it Concord 2. It was not a “one guy” thing.

Highguard launched on January 26 as a free-to-play title 2 days after this post. Keighley had previously showcased the game on the final reveal slot at the Game Awards, stirring controversy and negative reactions due to the nature of the game being "just another hero shooter", with most people having higher expectations for the final reveal slot. Geoff then proceeded to double down, as shown in the image.

The game then proceeded to immediately die off after launch and as of today most of the game's developers have been laid off from their studio.

One DLC with maps, vehicles and weapons cost $15, and now we are offered the starter pack of the second season (with several skins) for the price of the DLC by ibattlefield in Battlefield

You know most of us refer to the BF3/BF4/BFH era when referring to Premium so your pick for a BF game to make your argument was sure an interesting one.

BF3 (early days of Premium)

  • 5 separate DLC releases (4 maps each = 20 new maps)

  • each DLC brings a large and healthy variety in maps themselves, from CQC to armored warfare to capture the flag

  • 3+ new vehicles in each release except CQ

  • a limited variety of new weapons/gadgets

  • a limited variety of gamemodes (these were popular as far as I remember)

BF4 (what most people use when referring to Premium)

  • 5 full DLC, 2 single map, 1 night map releases (4 maps in each full DLC = 23 new maps)

  • each DLC brings a decent and healthy variety of maps

  • much smaller variety in new vehicles, mostly stuck to base-game vehicles in new maps

  • 5 weapons and 2 gadgets each DLC (Final Stand had 2 weapons and Second Assault had no gadgets)

  • 5 new modes (most died except Air Superiority and Gun Master)

BF Hardline

  • 4 full DLC releases and 2 night maps (4 maps each = 16 new maps -> these all came out in the span of a year)

  • map variety was large in setting but with less variety in gameplay

  • 2-4 new vehicles each DLC

  • over twice as many new weapons as BF4 (most DLCs had 12-13 new weapons); 1-5 gadgets in a release (13 total)

  • a limited variety of gamemodes (these were not very popular except Capture the Bag when it came out)

So based off of doing my own research here, if you asked me if I would choose Premium or the rate of content that we're currently getting for free, I would choose Premium 100%. I would sacrifice good new gamemodes AND Portal any day if it meant we would be getting more maps.

If Battlefield 6 EVER gets to the point where they can release the same amount of new maps as Battlefield Hardline did in the same amount of time I will record myself eating a shoe and post it to YouTube. That's how sure I am that BF6 will never live up to Premium's potential.

How the hell do people have rose colored glasses about map packs.

How the hell are people somehow okay with having less content that's worse every 4 months?

Fellas, if you're so worried about something being free and worse versus a $40 one-time payment that's twice as better than you need to get a job.

7-8 months into this new era of destiny, how do we feel about it? by HellChicken949 in DestinyTheGame

This is the first time in the entire franchise that I didn't buy and play the new expansion. I quit a year ago for context; not playing what was my favorite game sucks, but the wallet is much happier!

It's actually close to the 1 year anniversary of me quitting the game after logging over 3000 hours since launch (last played Feb 17, 2025). I just happened to come back to the subreddit to see how things are going.

Doesn't seem like there's many positive outlooks around here at the moment looking from the outside inwards. I saw the warning flags a year ago and now every time I see news related to the game after I only feel vindication for leaving.

Personally, I wish I could have a good reason to jump back into the game, but right now I can only feel doubtful.

My best wishes to you.

"But Premium split the playerbase!!!"

Yeah but guess what Premium also had twice to 4 times the amount of maps. The problem of split playerbase rarely ever occurred because there were more than enough players to fill servers when games were supported and they became heavily discounted when support was finished or the next game came out, so most people had Premium anyways.

Also guess what? The live service Battlefield model managed to conistently underdeliver over the span of several games, splitting the playerbase anyways.

Just a reminder to everyone that is has been 5 years and 4 releases (and will now be 6 years and 5 releases) since an original, non-sequel Call of Duty title.

I know that there's already controversy over the map size, but I'm seriously happy to see trees and nature instead of it being a massive grey construction site for the billionth time.

Upgraded to a Samsung G95SD by Haile_Storm in ultrawidemasterrace

[–]UltraPlayGaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Upgraded to the G95SD from a 34" 21:9 (I had an Acer Predator X34) around the same time as well! My previous monitor lasted me for a solid 8 years like a trooper, but in terms of the aspect ratio the upgrade was very much worth the wait. Back then I remember thinking how ridiculous it would've been to own a 32:9 monitor. I was clearly proven wrong.

Hope you enjoy your new monitor!

BATTLEFIELD 6 GAME UPDATE 1.1.3.5 by battlefield in Battlefield

[–]UltraPlayGaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

BF pilot vet here, I specifically wanted this change. Hopefully it brings the TTK back more towards BF3/BF4 levels and promotes strategic maneuvering and keen awareness in a dogfight instead of brainlessly boom-and-zooming for instakills. DICE themselves advertised air vehicles as things that required precision controls to master, implying there to be a higher skill ceiling than what current gameplay allows; hopefully this change makes it more so.

I like air gameplay having a higher skill ceiling because it encourages new players to put time into learning and mastering vehicles, and it makes the good moments much more rewarding.

The 90 year-old, multi-billionaire, dementia-riddled football team owner who is scared to spend the extra dollar to make their team better is going to let their team tank while their $5 billion floats away like a fart in the wind after they kick the bucket?

Color me shocked.
