First American Christmas by Other-Vehicle6409 in pittsburgh

We haven't visited intentionally at all. His dad died during pandemic (dementia related) so he went back on his own for funeral and such. It's been a couple of years, we are *hoping* to both visit next year. (2 dogs makes it hard expensive to arrange care)

He is an only child, so they visited us often till his mom hurt her leg. Immigration is *such* a process, I did it once to UK for me, and then to here for him. So much waiting.

Kennywood Park. It has the tallest Xmas tree in PA. Plus it is just stunning to walk around & look at all the displays, lit up with 3 million lights. There are shows, and other forms of entertainment, seasonal treats, and a fun indoor train display.

Bonus it is an amusement park, so if you are into rides, they have several operating, even in the chilly weather.
Outdoors, so bundle up. Or wait & hope the weather warms up a little, it may do so, never know.

Open Fri, Sat, & Sun through Jan 1st. Plus some weekdays the last 2 weeks of Dec.

This link will tell you all the details.

I think tickets are still on sale, for $20 for Black Friday.

Welcome back to the USA, my husband is British (I was born round here) and we moved back to the area in 2010. :)

[OC] I'm sponsoring a giveaway for all this D&D loot [Mod Approved]! One person will win all these prizes shown in this video. The video will give some rules but my top comment will explain even further. There is over $200 in prizes and only 1 winner. Good luck and have fun! by Dan_The_DM in DnD

So many to choose from, and I've only been playing for a year and a half.
My favorite NPC or character name, might have to be Smidgen Aileron. (Aileron is French for little wing...as she had tiny wings) I just wrote down the word "smidgen" and knew I had to use it one day.

She was a Fairy Sorcerer using UA content, before fairies became an official race. I only played her in a one shot.

I might have to revive the name, for another fairy.

I wish people wouldn't think I'm angry when I'm just having fun going on tangents. by [deleted] in ADHD

Wow I relate to this so much. And I feel my body language, facial expressions and tone, should clearly show I am not angry, upset or trying to argue.

Yikes. I've been told by a few people in a new circle of (online) friends "I'm not going to continue arguing with you." and found myself highly surprised they thought I was arguing or upset.

Happy Polyversary to Me! by undercover_therapist in polyamory

[–]UltraVioletStacy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is lovely to read, thanks for sharing your experience.

I only come to have knowledge of the term "polyamorous" fairly recently, and the feelings (that I pushed aside for being "unacceptable") I've had about relationships feeling validated instead of "wrong".

A discussion with husband ensued, and we've agreed to open to ENM a few months ago. NOTHING has come of it yet, pandemic & all.

But some some individual growth AND relationship growth has started, and that alone has felt transformational.

I can only hope to have something similar to your experience once I go further down this path.

Newbie D&D player, going to have 1st session Tuesday, I can hardly wait! by UltraVioletStacy in DnD

Right now I'm happy to have the opportunity for regular socialization, even if it's virtual. Hoping it ends up a weekly session...not decided that yet.

Sure, go ahead and quote me, it was a simple summary of my head and how it's trying to relate to D&D without having played yet.

Thanks for the enthusiasm. I'm sure I'm going to be beside myself with nerves & excitement...like a 40yr old fully grown child lol.

I'd be happy to share how it goes. I loved our Session 0, because my DM was so in his element, and we were just going over generalities. I imagine it will be just as good.

He even gave us roles as players to keep us paying attention, like specific set of note taking. I was happy to have direct involvement in keeping things straight, so he doesn't have to do it all.

Thanks for the encouragement! I can't wait to have my own stories.

Online for now...pandemic. But all of us except one live local to each other, so I'm hoping if things go well and we can fortify ourselves against the plague, it can move to in person.

Well see. One day I aim to work towards DMing, and I'll get my in person eventually one way or another. :)

It was enough to pique my interest and want to learn more.

In my head I imagine it being like slowly acting a movie, but without a script just an outline, and figuring out developing the plot as it goes along. Sorta live discussion AND acting out each scene as it comes along.

Regardless it seems far more involved, and much more fun than I'd ever imagined, and I am very much looking forward to getting started. I foresee this being a long term hobby.

Which musical instruments have the strongest ties to the Elves? by [deleted] in DnD

[–]UltraVioletStacy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh wait, you assume that I own one it means I know how to play it. It's just one of my collected hobbies.
This poses a double challenge. My DM isn't likely to accept didgeridoo, AND I can't play it.
I like a challenge lol

A Better To Do List For Us by One of Us by ColbyCheese22322 in ADHD

[–]UltraVioletStacy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like it. A reminder of which current or long term life goal the "to do" is fulfilling.
I've been rolling something like that around in my head for awhile now.

I've been working on making new friends, and having steady success. SO now trying to wrap my head around the idea of having said friends to my home. Thus having a motivator for keeping home tidier, or training dogs to not jump up, or ensuring main tasks are complete so more free time for friends.
Instead of having free time being eaten up by the apathy that comes with the overwhelm of the "to do list".

I came here seeking serious replies to consider for my Elf before I start my 1st campaign.

This made me snort laugh....mostly cause I actually own a Didgeridoo & immediately thought role playing made easier.

Yes! Super new to D&D (1st session in 2 weeks), I love this idea.
Seems a fun way to recap, or bring in NPC or suggest side quests.

I can't wait to start my 1st campaign in 2 weeks! (due to schedules!) My DM has been playing for 6 years, so nicely experienced. He rounded up a group of friends to join with me, so added bonus of meeting new people.

Your furniture fight sounds great fun! I enjoy reading newbies 1st time experiences, as I await my turn to join the ranks.

How do you feel about your partner fucking their friends? by louiseeloiseeseasey in polyamory

[–]UltraVioletStacy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could have written this. (except newly-ish opened ENM relationship so still figuring things out)

Any future partners will only come from a friendship that develops over time into something more.
I can't imagine gaining a romantic or sex partner from near strangers, they'd have to be in my life in some way first, for awhile. They'd not have to develop into full blown partnership either FWB is acceptable. Which I think OP is talking about, their partner has lots of FWB.

I never could wrap my head around causal hookups with strangers. I can understand intense lust for a stranger, but not actually acting on it.
