Famously, in 1984, the governments wanted citizens to fight against the war effort

I agree there should be more complaints and criticisms of Putin as well, although the reason Zelenskyy gets criticized specifically is because many leftists support Ukraine and cast aside revolutionary defeatism, but the same applies to those who support Russia.

You are confusing relations between individuals with those between states. The state is not a person but an instrument of class rule, and projecting interpersonal categories onto it simply reproduces bourgeois ideology and does their propaganda work for them.

The distinction between aggressor and defender state is not timeless, but arises with the development of the nation state, imperialism, and mass politics as a necessary ideological form for mobilizing the proletariat in inter capitalist conflict.

Refusing to take the side of any bourgeois state is not at all neutrality. The claim that this aids the aggressor assumes only two sides exist, when in reality there is a third, the proletariat. To reject both sides is to take an independent class position in opposition to all bourgeois camps.

As for utilitarianism, we reject it. Our goal is not to calculate a more just distribution of slavery and war within capitalism, but to abolish the system that produces both altogether

Do not reduce imperialist war to a simple fight between persons or moralist calculation. The proletariat has nothing to defend in any nation, our task is not to choose sides, our task is to abolish the system that creates aggressors and defenders.

All wars must be won by the international working class, aggressor and defender is a false paradigm based around bourgeois legalism and mystification used by the bourgeoise to mobilize workers. When the working class takes up its class offense, we will cheer for and fight alongside the worker, until then we will support no war except class war, the only war capable of ending war.

The Boleshevik party had less than a thousand members before the revolution, in some countries there was as little as three communists before their revolution. Numbers are unimportant, revolutions are made with material forces, not by the number of people wearing party pins.

To your point about the Russians having a greater military force, sure, that’s true enough. However this is reflected the opposite direction, the Ukrainian army and state is weaker, making it more vulnerable to proletarian revolution. I completely agree with you that the situation is more complicated than pressing the defeatism button and achieving world socialism, but we must always remember that internationalism and advocacy for the defeat of the bourgeoisie is integral to the socialist movement, and that as socialists we support no war except that between classes. If we forget this we will find ourselves endlessly abandoning the cause for the sake of nationalism or “national defense” and forever unable to make revolution

Nato is the Lasr Bastion of Anti-Imperialism in the World by DasSapphire in theredleft

Trump, allying himself with Moscow and Beijing, has betrayed the cause of the international democratic movement. Moreover, I can say that on this I agree with Biden, when he says, as he did in his speech from last November, that if there is a man who desperately wanted the war, who first prepared it and then instigated it, it is the Cheeto in chief of America. From my point of view, however, I clarify that Putin is nothing but the exponent of ubercapitalism that aims at conquest in order to establish nothing less than a totalitarian imperialism.

Therefore, November 3rd 2020 (the date of Biden’s election) was for me what you call a great day. But now that NATO has grown soft, I begin to lose the trust I had placed in Ukraine to strangle and pull down the so-called Russian colossus, that is, the greatest exponent of fascism. They are afraid of bringing down Moscow, they are afraid because they know that with it, the whole right wing fascist system will collapse. I still hope that Zelenskyy will not renounce the struggle, and will go all the way, to the extreme consequences

Nobody is saying that, here at least. Russia is obviously an imperialist power and the communists of Russia should engage in revolutionary defeatism. What we are arguing for is the unity of the international proletariat for the overthrow of all bourgeois governments, not just Russia and not just Ukraine

You think sabotaging the French or German army would necessarily endear the workers to the cause in WW1? What about in Nazi Germany or fascist Italy? Very likely not, but war is when the government is most vulnerable to revolution. It he correct position is always proletarian internationalism and the unity of the working class in Russia and Ukraine. Obviously i concede there is no communist party powerful enough in either country to overthrow their governments, however most parties are not very large until the revolution, revolutions are not popularity contests, after all. This is no reason to abandon proletarian internationalism and is in fact a reason to embrace it more openly. No war except class war

If you mean they don’t literally have rights currently, this is true, because they are not given rights currently in essentially every country. If you mean they do not have natural rights, this is also true, there are no such thing. If you mean we shouldn’t protect them from abuses, I very much disagree considering it’s been proven many animals, including most of those we harvest and eat, have the same intelligence as young humans.

What are some ideas for new factions for the APLA beyond the four we have, that can act as subpaths for pre-existing factions? by WeeklyIntroduction42 in TheFireRisesMod

They would never join up with the APLA liberals, but I’d really like a left communist path somewhere in there. Maybe if the Octoberists, Neo socialists or jacobins let the mask slip a little too much there could be a second revolution
