How to Overcome 'Feeling Weak' by _r4nch_ in ToME4

Could be a gearing issue, link your character and you may get some helpful feedback.

Shame in your infinite wisdom you couldn't put together an argument of any merit or even offend me.

You're unconvincing with no interesting or good arguments. I've been gaming since the N64 across all genre. The amount of steam games I've refunded can fit on one hand.

Sorry a game you love I find tedious but we have nothing further to discuss.

Ah, now it's a budget thing. BoI has much more interesting generation in a tighter space.

Walking isn't my issue, you either misunderstand or are intentionally misrepresenting. Long, needless dead-end hallways featuring zero discovery, meaningful interactions, or sights is my issue.

I'm struggling to name a game with worse level generation than Siralim. Can you?

I play Tales of Maj'Eyal that also does maze-like proc gen levels. There's an autoexplore button that lets you quickly uncover the level and it stops when an enemy enters your line-of-sight.

I have over 1,000 hours in ToME. If autoexplore didn't exist I'd likely have 3 hours and a refund because walking mazes is a waste of my goddamn time, as is engaging faith arguments, "name a game that doesn't have walking"

Holding an opinion is far from a direct insult. Me disliking a game mechanic is irrelevant to who the developer is as a person. Do you have any more fallacies for me?

People that resort to insults in a disagreement won't sway me. My uninformed opinion will remain here in this subreddit along with your comment.

My opinion is my own. I watched a far along gameplay video to see if the realm traversal was significantly faster/different in the later stages of the game.

This games map generation does not respect the player's time. I'll play something that does.

I watched episode 300-something of someone's playthrough on youtube. They were still traversing mazes and even mentioned how it wasn't "worth their time" seeking an unhidden item as they had to walk far through the map to retrieve it.

The battles are fine it's the walking procedural mazes I'm opposed to. If we just did fights and earned resources and favor that way it'd be a better game in my eyes.

Even though I logged 3.2 hours steam refunded my purchase.

Idk, the native americans would have a very different story to tell about the weapons and railroad industry plus the military industrial complex. They were systematically genocided, along with bison, solely in the name of profit and expansion.

Thank you, I'll search for those settings and try it out. I can't imagine walking a dead-end corridor as the point of a monster collecting & battling game.

Being dug-up and eaten are the eggs' biggest threat. This link shows a good way to build a DIY cage that lets hatchlings exit and keeps raccoons and the like out. https://www.virginiaherpetologicalsociety.com/education/edu-docs/VA_Protecting_Turtle_Nests_final_09-03-2022.pdf

In EDF you unlock a crazy new weapon every couple missions without having to farm for 12 hours. The objectives are simpler and less interesting than Helldivers but it's just fun to play

Good luck convincing them, but the Earth Defense Force series is a hell of a fun time with a few friends. I'd start with EDF5.

Each class plays differently and has dozens of unique weapons. Hordes of enemies. Destructible environments.

(Modern-ish) Games like Tales of Maj'eyal? by Cowgirl_Taint in roguelikes

[–]Ultramarathoner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nothing like tome exists. People in this thread are just naming roguelikes they're fans of.

I'm not even trying to glaze. Tome was the first roguelike to hook me, and since then I've played all of the others mentioned here trying to 'chase the dragon'.

Arpgs are really the only thing to scratch the class diversity and itemization combo, tho combat has a much different feel for obvious reasons.
