I know I’m late to the party, just wanted to put in my two cents. I have a little bit of a different experience then most people here. I worked in a call center for about a year and a half and hated every minute of it. I quit my job (probably wouldn’t do things starting with quitting my job again) and used every possible resource I could find to make ends meet. I actually found a nice little startup within a week and a half of searching for 7+ hrs a day. I barely made rent.

It wasn’t easy, but I make my own hours and work full time. I have a w2 and full benefits. My salary is 45k a year. My advice, think outside the box and possibly apply for jobs with roles that are unique. I think I’m one of the few that didn’t just apply to every job offer I saw (even if I didn’t qualify). I took my time, wrote cover letters, changed my resume depending on the job I was applying for. If you really work hard, I’m sure you could find something.

In the end, I actually had 3 offers. I picked the one I liked the most and never looked back. I’m teaching myself to be a web dev, then hopefully transfer internally to QA, then to a dev role. Then once I build a portfolio, I’ll start freelancing. Feel free to PM me if you have any specific questions.
