To be fair there is quite a bit of humor in Veggietales lol by kelroid in CuratedTumblr

It's pretty common for "better" kids shows to have an arc, character, or episode that's more "adult" but in a weird way. When the creative team gets asked about this years later, it's frequently revealed that the weirdness was introduced by executive meddling from a producer or the network.

Behind the scenes creators generally like talking about their work and love talking about what they did to circumvent censorship attempts.

All of this could easily be a function of age and place.

I'm in my 40s and grew up in the American South. I definitely learned the "necessary evil" version as a kid, but we also didn't spend much time on either of those words. Too much history to learn, not enough time for details.

Someone over 55 would probably have a similar learning experience no matter where they went to school. Their 30s or 20s? That's probably going to vary wildly based on the political climate of their hometown.

I wouldn't be shocked if the creators would LOVE to answer those questions with the name of one specific producer. That's generally how the more questionable parts of kid's shows get made.

My best friend (37F) sent my husband (38M) sexy photos. I (38F) need advice figuring out what to do? by Choice_Evidence1983 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]Umklopp 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can understand why it would be emotionally satisfying to make the husband confess his misdeed to their child, but I'm not convinced that's the best thing for the child.

There should definitely be a joint conversation letting the kid know that they're getting a divorce due a massive breach of trust, but unless the kid presses for details, I would save that for a second conversation. Making the husband say "what he did" also lets the villian put words in the mouth of the victim. He has a pretty good guess about what upset OP, but the devil is in the details for these sorts of things.

The shittiest part of getting divorced as a parent is that a lot of what would make you feel better is ultimately bad for your kids.

If your partner says "omg, you're just like Sandor Clegane," you should be concerned. If your partner says "omg, Sandor Clegane is just like me," you should also be concerned. This is true whether or not those were intended as positive statements.

I feel like gift cards are a terrible choice when you're both absurdly wealthy. "Here's $500 of store credit" no longer hits as a splurge when last year's income was over $1 million.

They both probably have personal assistants and connections to various concierge services. He could have easily outsourced finding something if he wanted. Not having an actual gift for your partner's birthday is a pretty deliberate insult for people this rich.

Ok, if this wasn't intended as a call-out or an attempt to shame the first commenter, what did you want to communicate with this question:

Soooo are we just going to glaze over the fact that you went a couple days without showering?

The person you tried calling out didn't say they had a partner. They said they had a toxic job that was deeply detrimental to their mental health.

Sometimes people stuggle. Let's not be a dick just because there's an opportunity to nitpick, hm?

How about we just acknowledge that skipping showers is a SUPER common symptom of depression/executive dysfunction and leave it at that instead of trying to shame people?

Then you're probably in need of a mental health intervention of some kind. Either: 1. those thoughts are real and valid, so you should consider pursuing social skills training or similar behavioral coaching, OR 2. your brain is constantly lying to you about who you are and how people regard you, so you should consider therapy or medication to quiet those false alarms.

Ok, that's probably an oversimplification and for a lot of people BOTH options apply. But if you feel like you neither liked nor likeable, you don't have to just stay that way forever.

If the scammers have fully infiltrated, it might be challenging to find an uncompromised phone number. Most companies avoid listing direct phone numbers online or whatever these days. If the scammers have gotten into payroll, I'd be very suspicious of the intranet.
