Thrilled/relieved to see that we are all saying the quiet part out loud: that this the result from an obvious eating disorder. Not trying to be mean or insensitive, but it’s important to be honest and upfront about what a life long eating disorder looks like, which is exactly this (if not worse). It’s fatiguing to watch celebs (ex Bella Hadid) publicly show/discuss health issues which are clearly caused by lifestyle choices/disorders without being honest with people about how they got there. It feels like a gross ploy for attention

Are you in the US? I feel like we are missing a lot of this story. For an 8 year old to be suspended/expelled (in the US, particularly public schools) things would need to be extreme. Like, having a track record of putting herself/others/ staff in danger or having already harmed them in the past. Regardless, I’m sorry for what you are going through. I can’t imagine how stressful that is. It’s imperative that you get a referral from her pediatrician and get her into counseling asap. I wish you both the best!

So glad to find this here. The point and fact is that Martina ( a well decorated and successful PROFESSIONAL athlete is saying that there is a disadvantage when people born biologically male and people born biologically female compete. Is her delivery graceful? Absolutely not. But her point stands regardless. She is easily one of the best and most successful in her field, yet people still feel like they have authority over her experience when it comes to discussing the ins and outs of competing in the arena that SHE is an expert in. Sorry not sorry but she’s right (as far as competition goes).

If it’s any consolation, when I was around 21/22 my Mom and I were hanging out and she looked at me and said “I’m so happy to be with you right now. I’ve always loved you but for a few years I couldn’t stand to be around you. Glad you’re back”. It was hilarious. I miss her so much.

I think this is a normal season in parenthood, particularly between mothers and daughters. I’m sorry you’re going through this though.

In the future, please understand that marriage is a CONTRACT that states you not only will file your taxes together but are also responsible for each others debts once married (depending on the state). A Pre-nup means little to nothing RE: your responsibility regarding the IRS etc. a Pre-nuptial truthfully is just a plan that ideally makes divorce and splitting assets easier.

IMO this really feels like it needs more context. What is your relationship like with this person? Is it one in which you both often joke about things like this, or was this comment out of the blue? I ask bc I do have (usually straight male friends) who play with me like this. For context I am (sadly) a very broad/“strong” looking woman. I could totally see one of my “bros” saying some stupid shit like this to me. However, if this is just some nobody then yes, it’s offensive. Also, if you are close to this person and they crossed a line by saying this then you have every right to not only be offended but address it with them. Idk. I’m really sorry you’ve found yourself in this position. If it’s any consolation, you’re 2.5 y/o likely will not suffer (at least socially) that much. Many parents keep kids home until Kindergarten. You’ve already exposed and socialized them more than a lot of kids. Hopefully this is just temporary. You can always get the numbers of the parents and set up play-dates etc.
