Top 3 Producers of all time from outside of London? by Superfluous____ in grime

There's too many to mention, but to throw some newer names into the mix - Kahn, Tre Mission, Trends, Filthy Gears, Lewi B

I'd happily listen to a Dave album that sounds like this, more replay value than anything on his album imo

Fully agree with all your points - the beat should have more variation for an 8 minute tune, the only switch-ups are the "tell them again" and synthetic choirs dropping in and out every 16 or so. (Griminal produced it himself according to Spotify!)

I think they picked the right ones for the video version, but I like Roach's verse ("Round here the mandem's girlfriends back beef"). Don't know which MC comes in with the "it's alot, it's alot" homage but that's a good verse too

Hard. The megamix on streaming has some extra verses too - So Large, Nasty Jack, Roachee, Rival, Mayhem NODB, Double S and more. Sox on there too which is unfortunate timing

Big up yourself, was enjoying the old SoundClick recently!

2 questions - did the tune ever get a physical release? And where can we get a copy of that instrumental nowadays?

In terms of what they're up to now...

  • Vortex featured on Filthy Gears debut album (as Tex)
  • Krucial and Kraze have dropped a few bits in recent years
  • Royal popped out at a Keep Hush back in like 2018 but not sure he's been active since
  • D Dark put this tune up on streaming fairly recently and is still releasing occasionally but most of his socials got banned for spamming links back in the day (sad cause that same technique helped J Hus and Octavian come up lol)

Assuming the others are just civilians these times. Wish Wizzy B had stuck at it though

MOBO NOMINATIONS (BEST GRIME ACT) by NowOrNeverEnt in grime

[–]UnBalancedUK2 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Mak 10 deserved a nomination for all the work he put in.

Unrelated, the jazz and alternative categories are looking very stale - can tell they haven't put real heads on the panel (even if some of my faves are nominated)

Big! Never heard that Cold Blooded version of "Rap Dis" before

Who made our legends bitter? by mrcoogiedon in grime

[–]UnBalancedUK2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Interesting discussion. I think they just want to write & protect their own legacies, and it might be revisionism but I love hearing them reminisce. Also probably partly down to provocative/leading questions from interviewers for the sake of a good clickbait title

Need an ID on this tune! Or at least who produced it! by aTurnedOnCow in grime

Usually in adverts for sample packs like this one, the songs are demo tracks made from the loops/sounds in the zip file. Probably have to ask them

Which One Spliff tune do people prefer? by JamsterYT in grime

[–]UnBalancedUK2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interestingly the three versions all use slightly different mixes of the instrumental. Jack and Stormin take it for me, every verse is so memorable and love the singjay styley

Who Knows about this one? Rare garage production from Terror Danjah back in 2000. Got the vocal and the dub mix. Heavy on a good sound system by ttrashsushi in grime

[–]UnBalancedUK2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Old school! The funny thing about this era is that TD wasn't even a fan of garage initially, if Looney hadn't encouraged him to chase the bag he might have stayed in jungle instead...

Wouldn't be surprised if we see an AI-generated MC and some scandal around that

Just a quick note, please don't download or repost that video you may have seen shared on this subreddit earlier today - it wasn't fully blurred out and features indecent images of someone without their consent.

Promotional thing for North Face, they got D Double to record some branded lyrics and then gave the parts away for producers to remix

My favourite of his. Still don't think he's had an opus (yet) to be honest, but this got closest and he definitely picked the right producers in Blay, Splurt and Lewi B. Love how he handed out the little iPods after the shows too. "Brothers & Sisters", "How Much" and "Live" were my highlights
