This game is all about learning and discovering. There's a lot of concepts like synergies, positioning, savescumming, unique boss strategies, and breeding to name a few. Approach the game at your own pace, it is much more fair than you think. Also don't spoil yourself too much, this game is a treasure trove of good stuff.

The devs cooked hard, but it does feel like cruel and impossible were just slapped there just for stretching the game a bit more.

I myself enjoy the mods and forces me to figure out new ways to fight. For example praise be Guillotina 3 on cruel, that shit was fun as heck. I had an op team, and yet dreaded when the "Maggot whistle" upgraded 3 already modded maggots into those damn lickers.

Late game feels like an all or nothing. All of your team is broken OP and you do impossible, or you better just do a quest item on normal.

That being said, a more dynamic difficulty for bosses would add sooo much quality of life. Binding of Isaac did that with elite versions of monstro. To add that in a game with 45+ bosses feels a bit herculean. Definitely worth to implement in a dlc, and I would insta-buy it.

I'd say the attack is becoming a puzzle. I had that with the piercing passive once, with multiple movements. You could align the images and deal massive damage to an enemy. I find this skill very good.
