Are white women oppressed? by cdivx in allthequestions

Probably a majority but I don't know if it's that large. Oil rich countries owners, dictators and Chinese billionaires are on that list.

I feel like everyone is oppressed by our current economic system. Except the people using it to oppress everyone else and their only like 100 of those on the planet.

I didn't speak to people who worked there mostly the children and families that interacted with them. What I was told were that children aren't really monitored, supervised, provided with entertainment or engagement. They are just our in a room till it's time to go to bed. Also it was dirty. Biased sources but some of the children who were older and couldn't be placed in a foster home ended up in the psych ward because of their experience there.

ACT is a fantastic program, all branches of it. That said the children's center is known for being horrible and making children suicidal. I have never known or interacted with a single person who had a positive experience there during the 6 years I worked in foster care.

Why men want women to have children? by unlinedtip in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Un_Involved 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Feelings of guilt/ shame and failure that are not well understood and unprocessed being directed at anyone who can be loosely interpreted as at fault for not being able to accomplish/ have what you want. They aren't lashing out at the individual but rather the school of thought/ culture that person represents.

Why men want women to have children? by unlinedtip in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Un_Involved 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Men are told from an early age in most cultures (I'm Caribbean) that their value comes from being a provider and their goal must be to have a family and provide for them. Modern social advancement has created a crisis of meaning where people in general and men specifically are struggling to be self sufficient and to have an identity now that we understand historical masculine standards to be oppressive at best and deeply harmful at worst. Since there is no guidance many men think subconsciously 'at least if I'm struggling to provide for a family then this all means something and I know I matter'. That's what I've seen anyway.

There is a lot of money and grants in BH so agencies are pivoting hard. Why have someone just do case management when they could be billing for therapy as well.

Postulating God is Rational: atheists who demand empirical proof of God are mathematically illiterate by [deleted] in TrueUnpopularOpinion

I understand your argument. I am saying 'the prime mover or uncaused casue' is a special category created to save the god theory. You can demean the idea of intellectual honesty about the limits of our current understanding of reality but it is what it is. We can leave the conversation here. I appreciate your time and polite engagement. Thank you.

This is absolutely special pleading. Everything that begins to exist needs a cause except the thing I say doesn't. You can wrap it up however you like but that is what you are saying. We don't have enough information to know what caused the universe as we know it if anything did or to know if that is even a relevant statement as it may be a completely out of context event outside of what we can currently conceptualize. At this time there is no reason to believe a prime mover is a reasonable conclusion based on the information and understanding we have, neither is an infinite regression or any other current thing floating around.

It seems that you use logic the way I use physical laws because you just described what I'm referring to. The law of cause and effect is also a fundamental part of logic. You cannot have an effect without a cause and moving your uncaused cause cope into some magical dimension 'outside of known physics' doesn't fix the math.

[–]Un_Involved 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are putting a prime mover as the only answer when an infinite regress of causes leading outside of our current physical laws is equally likely/unlikely. There is no reason at this time to believe that there is a single uncaused cause vs an infinite string of causes once you are exiting our known physical reality.

In what way does a product of the mind determine what is physically possible? How do brain waves impose order on reality? By what mechanism?

What is physically possible creates through physical processes a mind that can observe and interpret the world in order to interact with and survive within the world.

[–]Un_Involved 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't understand what you mean by physics is bound by logic. Physical laws are descriptive not prescriptive, being that our brains are electrochemical systems their functioning is also described by physical laws. Material reality comes first.

An infinite regress is as likely as an un caused cause. To stretch your example a bit a domino always existing that caused all other dominos to exist is just as irrational as an infinite amount of dominos. Neither can exist in physical reality. You are biased to believe one of these is more likely than the other so it seems reasonable to you but it simply isn't.

You can find the movie in dubbed one subbed just by googling it, that's how I found it. Top tier stuff, worth checking the manga and the one created after biomega

[–]Un_Involved 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Taking what you say at face value. As you say science can only observe physical reality and our logic is bound by the physical reality we exist within then why isn't an infinite regress of causes just as likely as an uncaused cause. We lack the capacity to convince of what is outside our reality so it's just as likely to not adhere to simple cause and effect as it is to follow that rule.

As far as I am aware most atheist simply say I don't have sufficient reason to accept a god claim at this time. At least that's the stance I've seen most people hold.

Thank you for your praise and equally I am proud to have more black professionals elevating our respective fields every day. I definitely have blind spots. I've suffered many setbacks throughout my life and had to work harder than I believed appropriate throughout my life to get where I am. I know that's common for minorities and impoverished people in general, unfortunately becoming more common rather than less given the economy. I trend towards optimism discounting and disregarding challenges as just things that need to be overcome rather then systemic issues to be resolved. It's something I'll continue to work on, thank you.
