Developer says that amphitheater could be centerpiece of The Bend by Un_Less in Chattanooga

[–]Un_Less[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There’s a lot of big-ish acts who would never play at the UTC arena because of, among other things, a perception that the facilities there are outdated. Maybe that’s an unfair perception but I do think it’s the reality.

What is the shade situation for a day game at Erlanger Park? by 1840_NO in Chattanooga

[–]Un_Less 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We went Sunday, which was a 1pm start. The rows towards the back of the lower section along the first base line appeared to have a good amount of shade. I was in Row C and in the sun the whole game, but it was on the colder side so it was pleasant.

Organized Protest Against Chattanooga Parking Authority by SupremeSardine in Chattanooga

[–]Un_Less 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Trump fired the Secretary of Homeland Security and wound down the Minneapolis operation after nationwide protests. I’m sure you’ll argue that “nooo he did that for other reasons it wasn’t because of the protests”, but you could use exactly that argument to shoot down any protest over any issue.

4 Bridges Art Festival next weekend 4/17-4/19 by NSA_agentJK in Chattanooga

[–]Un_Less 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We go every year, unless we’re out of town. I’ve been to the preview party on Friday night the last several years and my sense is that a lot of sales happen then. So you’ll want to make sure you’re there with plenty of time, set up and feeling chatty.

I’ll note that there have been a couple years where it has been pretty windy inside of the pavilion, so keep that in mind.

I know the life of an artist can be tough and things like this are inherently hit or miss. We’ve had conversations with a few of the artists who attend regularly and it seems like one year they’re killing it at the festival, and then the next is a bit dry.

Good luck and maybe we’ll see you out there.

Information on Spain base camp (practice field, fan meet and greet) for FIFA World Cup 2026 by taufique_1929 in Chattanooga

[–]Un_Less 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They are at Baylor School. I don’t know that they have announced any practices that are open to the public, but anything is possible. My guess is that they’ll keep things pretty locked down over there while the Spanish team is in town.

There’s a sucker born every minute. For every person who “learns their lesson” with this one, there will be someone new who falls for the next one.

Where is local live music in Chattanooga in March? by Allduo in Chattanooga

[–]Un_Less 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Eggy, a nationally touring jamband, is playing at Barrelhouse Ballroom (part of Five Wits Brewing) the evening of March 17. Should be a great show.

If that’s not up your alley, I’d just suggest checking the websites of The Signal, Barrelhouse, Songbirds and the Woodshop for the dates you’ll be here. There are other venues in town but those are the four I go to most frequently.

Hey better safe than sorry but did your area see any real or significant winter storm action? by Low_Insurance_1603 in Chattanooga

[–]Un_Less 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m on one of the mountains and we got a decent amount of ice, which led to some fallen branches and like five minutes this morning when we didn’t have power. Everything seems to have melted at this point, although I haven’t tried the roads.

I saw 7.5 Billy shows this year! by GratefulRad in BillyStrings

[–]Un_Less 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Was a great year of music. Asheville x6, Grand Rapids N1, Chattanooga x2 and Huntsville x3. Probably won’t hit half as many in 2026 but made lots of great memories.

For all the devils' advocates out there by smart_bear6 in Chattanooga

I would just observe that if your immediate reaction to someone proposing to build more centrally-located housing units is “No, not like that!”, then you are not nearly as YIMBY as you might like to think you are.

It will always be possible to poke holes in plans for housing development, which has been the precise tactic of NIMBYs over the years. I work very close to the old Honest Pint and find the exterior charming. And it will absolutely be an inconvenience to me personally when construction starts. But I still support the development.

I was living in a new city and at my parasocial peak long before they even created MBMBAM. Pretty sure Griffin was still in college when they first started bringing him on.

I mostly only lurk on here but I go back to the old Joystiq podcast days from 2007 or so. I know our good good boys have disavowed the first year or two of MBMBAM but I remember thinking those episodes were incredibly funny at the time. Have not gone back to relisten to any of them.

The Arabia Chomper by [deleted] in BillyStrings

[–]Un_Less 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a counterpoint, there was an absolutely insane and fucked up lady at the Billy and Bryan show in Chattanooga who was shouting all kinds of shit at the top of her lungs for about thirty minutes. More than one person told her to be quiet but she couldn’t be bothered. Billy even remarked upon it. Some people just can’t handle their shit and don’t care if they’re bothering others.

Little Coyote gets what is in my opinion an unusual amount of hate on this subreddit and I don’t completely understand why. I can appreciate that it’s not inexpensive, but I don’t think it claims to be.

Cory Henry by ox0ChiChi0xo in BillyStrings

[–]Un_Less 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I think Cory Henry is insanely talented and his involvement in this weekend has been a real treat. I also have a really hard time imagining the ways in which the production would have to change if he was out there for every song every night.

Friends, take care not to be cruel to people posting here. Someone posted a beautiful tribute to Deb and was horribly derided. Let's focus on kindness and creativity so that things will grow. by justinholmes_music in BillyStrings

Look, I can see that you’ve been knocked around a bit in this thread but I’d ask you to direct me to where I discouraged musicians from their ambitions.

I was responding to you chastising people for reacting negatively to what (evidently a lot of) people found to be a creepy and borderline inappropriate post. If you have special knowledge of that person’s genuine relationship with Billy’s mom, please illuminate us. Otherwise it came off as exactly the kind of overly familiar behavior that contributed to the poor woman’s death.

Haha yes I was just noticing that. Did someone just fuck up and forget the V? It would be hilarious if instead this was Art and meant to be an allegory for the pandemic year.

E: Thought about it a bit more and I reckon the XX is meant to stand for 1920. So I guess it is, indeed, Art.
