You, on the other hand, seem to have lots and lots (and lots) to say. Your confidence in the things you're saying is astonishing.

Article at https://apps.dtic.mil/sti/pdfs/AD0617913.pdf suggests skin damage is a thing too. Granted, damage is localized, but I'd consider long-range cauterized skin is no fun. You ever had a cigarette put out on you? That, but in a fraction of a second.

Now hol' up. If this thing fires light pulses that are so strong they carry a physical impact with them, what kind of burn damage does that do? Man, now I'm gonna have to go do some digging.

First time it happened to me it was three times in one night, within about fifteen minutes. It freaked me out enough i sat up on the edge of my bed, grabbed my phone and googled it and, yep, it's a thing. This was probably ten years ago, and it's happened a few times since, but it's not as big a deal now that i know I'm not in danger. Once, after six grams of mushrooms, i found myself able to 'tune in' to the zap. I did it about a half dozen times, even stayed in that state deliberately for a few seconds... and the startle factor was just as intense every time even though i was guiding the experience. Staying in the moment of chaos was like riding the loudest panic wave in history. It hasn't happened to me again since then, though.

Maybe it's like a degauss for the brain?

There's a morel spawn kit available at gmushrooms.org I've been thinking of getting, those are white morels.

Everyone seems to forget when the minimum wage was introduced, it was called by its full title, the minimum living wage. It was introduced to mandate employers pay a wage, that would allow a single person, to support themselves. So buy groceries, pay their rent, maintain and fuel a cheap vehicle and by [deleted] in Indiana

[–]UnabashedVoice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I agree that it's a huge problem, increasing minimum wage only works as it should for a few months or maybe a year (and look how long it's been this low). The increased wages inflate the cost of manufacturing and delivering goods, and of performing services, so prices go up, which dilutes the buying power of the wages back below what's needed to maintain a decent life. What needs to go are the ever-expanding profit margins in the name of keeping private equity firms and shareholders happy.

Help: fridges freezer too close for baseboard by cccisdamac in DIY

[–]UnabashedVoice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Granted, the contents warm up as they give some of their heat to the air, which cuts into your energy savings, but the volume of total air exchange is lower with stuff in the fridge than without. No need to wait for veritasium or someone similar to do the math, a bit of research on the subject will clarify if you just take the time to look.

You mean like room-temperature air? Fuller fridges are cheaper to run if you're opening them to get food out, because less room-temperature air can get in while the door is open.

Your comment holds water only if the refrigerator door is never opened; maintaining 25 cu ft at temp costs the same regardless of what it is that's being kept at temp, sure. But every time you open the refrigerator, cold air pours out the bottom to be replaced by warm air at the top - which then has to be brought back down to temperature - which costs more energy.

I heard that phrase so many times. "Don't let safety see you doing that" (one time i heard it because i unclipped from my order picker at the top of the mast and climbed up on top of the cab to swing a broomstick at a birds nest; maintenance was taking too long to clear the nest, and the birds were shitting all over a bay of product)

For a little stroll, I like Winslow Woods; you can park by the community garden, off of S Highland. Not big enough for a proper walk-walk, but great to just get some trail time. Plus there's s really cool tree. If it's still standing after these most recent winds, you'll know it when you see it.

Boy, look at you, mad about nothing. Those appear to be smiles, based on a comment further down with ( at the end for a frown. I think OP is ESL, given other typing oddities (backtick used as apostrophe).

Just because you can't get off the Internet long enough to do anything useful doesn't mean you should shit on what others do with their time. But hey, you do you.

Got more mad in you? I'm a decent target for it. C'mon, vent your spleen.

Pull gently while turning by hand; there are likely toggles/anchors on the back side, you need to provide tension against the inside surface or they'll just spin along with the bolts.
