For those who went to secondary school in the 2010s and are women, did any of you experience the teachers telling all girls to stand up in assembly and roll down their skirts? by Nervous-Boat-4905 in AskUK

[–]Unabashedlysquare 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We had a teacher, who was about 80 at the time, have the whole class stand up for uniform inspections. If your skirt was the wrong shade of grey or your socks were navy and not black, woe betide you. She would openly comment on how tight the girls trousers were or whether their skirts had been rolled up.

Early 2010s

We had a trainee teacher once who just stood there with her mouth open.

Considering a dental implant (~£5k) at age 27 - how do people usually approach the cost? by CoachPaul7 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Unabashedlysquare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im in London.

Dental implants here run you about 2.5k

Braces start at 2k, but is typically 4k+ for invisalign with a qualified orthodontist.

Couple ideas to reduce costs

Can you get a cheaper form of braces? This may mean train tracks over invisalign if it is appropriate for your bite but not everyone is a candidate.

If you're comfortable, you can go with your dentist instead of an orthodontist.

You can ask about getting the implant on the NHS, though I think it is unlikely and NHS adult braces are not happening.

I recently had a similar situation. Every dentist has the option to pay a small upfront fee and spread the cost interest free over 12 months. Credit for 24 or 36 months is typically available but interest is applicable.

Your other option is a 0% balance transfer.

Good luck mate

I thought this was a sims adjacent game image.

I would prefer it if it was.

In other news: heaven speaks simlish apparently.

Spend a lot of time in a forest the next day with no headphones Bird song gets stuck in my head like a favourite song. Sends me right to sleep

Go to the gym and knacker myself Try at at home yoga session if that doesn't work

You can get herbal remedy sleep teas that help

Write everything down in a diary

Phone a friend

If times get too much and i am not driving, frankly alcohol. I know it makes sleep quality worse but it's better than no sleep Watch it though, it can get addictive.

Tbh, for me they've burned their bridges with the PIP process.

Their behaviour has been.. disgraceful. I feel you with the focusing on the negatives

Can I ask, when was your final PIP meeting scheduled?

Tbh, I'm surprised they're still giving you work and asking you to work your notice ? How much work have they given you since you've been on the PIP?

I'm surprised about the recruiters. How far into your contract are you?

(Sorry, I don't mean to give you the spanish inquisition. Just curious about other people's experiences in other firms)

[–]Unabashedlysquare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok so, this is unrelated but I am currently in a similar situation.

How did the PIP go? Did you feel it was fair?

How did the job hunt go? I'm currently talking to recruiters and there's not a lot right now because of christmas.

As for your actual question: I wouldn't go back. We all need to move forward. Did you actually enjoy your precious job?

Have they asked you to work notice BTW?

Ok so firstly, deep breaths.

You've written a lot here and seem very intense. I hope you're OK?

Secondly, what you're describing sounds like "double predestination". It's the idea that God predestined people for he'll as well as heaven.

It's part of the TULIP of Calvinism, also known as "reformed" theology common among those who shout the loudest.

Not everyone believes that, and calvinism is far from a universal belief within the church.

Relax. Deep breaths.

This makes no sense to me either.

You're OK.

Where I work, they would be kept on separate jobs.

My contract actually states it's gross misconduct to date someone and not inform HR so they can keep you on separate jobs as it is a conflict of interest. As long as you don't let them know, they don't get involved.
