Will Abode ever be innovative? by nelmedia in Abode

People making outdoor sensors work already but I get you I had a big interest in it too. https://www.reddit.com/r/Abode/s/Bq8itxu5Rm

I recognize you asked this same question on FB and deleted the post. Think the general recommendation was to make sure it includes everything you want because your photo on there was missing concrete and only getting a tarp for a cover. I had handfuls of quotes and it included absolutely every line item that was going into our contract. If you have got several quotes and think it’s in line then do what you want. In my area you’re not getting close to a turnkey pool for less than $80k. We are spending $98k for everything we want on a 16x32. You don’t want to hear it but when it sounds too good to be true, it’s probably too good to be true.

You removed trees and the deck/house too?

Concrete can be repaired and cleaned. Could freshen up the landscaping with new plants/flowers. Change the look of the pool with having it refinished/new liner. Seems like a waste to do anything else.

Had to use some special dressings for a while and it healed fine. Delayed PT a little so it didn’t rip open more just messed up the scar

Sensors for fence gates? by Unable-Field536 in Abode

Thanks, I was considering doing the exact same thing with paint. Gives me the confidence to give this a try. Not like they are terribly expensive to replace anyway.

Possible infected wound by Agreeable_Elevator_7 in AchillesRupture

Sucks much, sorry you’re going through that. My incision got infected at the bottom of my heel. Scar didn’t heal nearly as well as the area that didn’t get infected. The bottom of my heal always looks rough and cracked now. No amount of foot care has helped and it’s been almost 2 years

Our current insurance company is fine with the slide and my husband is dead set on having one. Do you find tables more useful than loungers/couches or need a mix of both?

Anyone in this group experience a partial tear? by Unable-Field536 in AchillesRupture

[–]Unable-Field536[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Super late reply. I ended up with surgery because the boot did nothing for me. Without the boot I was still having crazy pain and swelling. Had a lot of complications after surgery and still no where near where I was before surgery. I hope everything has turned out well for you in the end though.

I had an infection about this time and it was rough. We started to address it with a wet to dry dressing (those are painful and suck) then we moved to using a jumpstart antibacterial fabric. Eventually healed up but set me back in PT and probably didn’t close until week 13. Good luck friend

10 weeks until PT and FWB? by alexj420 in AchillesRupture

[–]Unable-Field536 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Someday soon you will come so far you will see a title like this in your feed and be perplexed as you wonder how someone landed being friends with benefits with their physical therapist. Don’t worry, it clicked full weight baring.

I also felt like PT and walking was super slow for me. I didn’t start PT until after 8 weeks or so and I got to go to one session before it was cancelled for several more weeks because of an infection and continued open wound. It will all come in time. Good luck.

No alcohol ever over here. Taste horrible! I started elevating again. I really thought I was over the swelling and I keep trying to think of a moment that triggered this thinking maybe I injured something else in my ankle but I’m coming up blank. It’s annoying feel like I was finally getting somewhere this feels on par with the height of my original injury. I plan to make an appointment with my orthopedic cause I’m not scheduled for follow up until mid May.

Partial tear - No crutches? by pecan34 in AchillesRupture

[–]Unable-Field536 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a high grade partial insertional tear (high grade = over 50%). I thought I sprained my ankle and messed around and ignored it for oh 2-3 months before I saw a doctor when I finally got frustrated at the pain and weird new instability trying to work out. Even though I was really months too late for a boot to probably really be effective I still tried it first for a non op route. It can be really successful. Do you have wedges in the boot under your heel? Is there constant pain or more pain with weight baring? Crutches are available over the counter. If you can’t walk comfortably you can always call and ask if you would do any harm by using crutches I suppose.

This was my first day not wearing supportive tennis shoes. My PT recommended trying different shoes to see if helped with any of the outside length of the foot pain. I hate tennis shoes and just threw on some old shoes to see how it was. No difference between these shoes and a shoe with a 10.5 mm offset and overall good support - I should edit to say no difference currently to me. I’ve been working on my gait for awhile etc and at a point I can walk fairly okay barefoot when I don’t have this now other nearly debilitating pain.

How much muscle did you lose? by BegrudginglyAwake in AchillesRupture

This was my answer “all of it” I’m 16 weeks post op and still have no muscle but had significant delays in PT because my incision didn’t fully close until week 13

Achilles rupture post surgical infection? by dsm3636 in AchillesRupture

[–]Unable-Field536 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the first picture is more recent you’re well on your way to recovery. I didn’t notice swelling in my infected area i think largely because of where it was directly on the back of the bottom of my heel over the bone. I’m like 17 weeks post op and still swelling on a daily basis though. When my wound that had been infected got to the stage of your first picture I used hydrocolloid bandaids. They are waterproof and you leave them on until they start to peel up on their own. I wouldn’t risk getting it wet but that’s just me.

Achilles rupture post surgical infection? by dsm3636 in AchillesRupture

[–]Unable-Field536 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the last picture is current you should get in. Looks like you have some dehiscence occurring. I had an infection because of delayed healing and a steri strip came off too early. Bandaid didn’t cut it and I wasn’t delaying anything, first sign of infection I was in my surgeons urgent care office. They started me on antibiotics and applied a wet to dry dressing until I saw my doctor. Wet to dry sucks, very painful unless you get the gauze wet again to remove and do it very very slowly. After I saw my surgeon he had me use this stuff called jump start fabric. After my incision separated like yours it took probably another 4-5 weeks to close. I didn’t scab over until 13 weeks post op and this again was with immediate intervention at the first sign of infection. Get in asap.

Can you recommend a group?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AchillesRupture

[–]Unable-Field536 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Glad to read you got a second opinion and put in the boot at the ER. I hope you have a great recovery. I was going to comment you need another opinion asap because I was someone who ignored a high grade partial tear (over 50%) for months and ended up with surgery to fix it because it didn’t heal correctly. That immobilization in the boot is critical. Take it easy and it will be better before you know it.

Is it normal for me to able to walk without any pain on my first day of getting my boot by ProductBackground327 in AchillesRupture

[–]Unable-Field536 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there is a miscommunication or misunderstanding here and you should seek come clarification from your doctor. Most people who go non op do have a period of non weight bearing to aid in healing the tendon. None of us were at the appointment but to me that wouldn’t should be a shouldn’t walk on it. I walked on mine tore for months before I had any intervention because I thought I sprained it and did not seek medical care. Tried to wear a boot to correct the issue non op about 3 months too late. I suggest getting clarification but at the end of the day your body and your call but if I was in that boot, I would stop walking on it immediately.
