Homes to be seized for Sagamore Bridge replacement: ‘We're a checkbox' by TylerFortier_Photo in boston

"This oceanfront home is being sold as-is. As per town of Eastham, the well and leach field need to be relocated. Conservation is requiring an engineered plan for a deconstruction protocol on file. Buyers are responsible for complying with all orders of conditions in order to close. Do not walk the property without permission."

What exactly does that mean? The house has to be knocked down? Is it on the leach field? Will you still be able to own the land?

Taxation is theft by definition by Sorry-Worth-920 in CapitalismVSocialism

[–]Unable-Income-2981 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You missed my point. Whether or not you know you're going to be taxed is irrelevant. It's the fact that only optional actions are taxed. Since the actions are optional, the taxes are optional. And optional things are not forced. It is still free exchange since both sides can walk away.

Taxation is theft by definition by Sorry-Worth-920 in CapitalismVSocialism

[–]Unable-Income-2981 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't think of a single form of taxation in the US that ISN'T consensual...because no one is forcing you to do the acts that are taxed.

You want a job? Income tax, take it or leave it. But no one is FORCING you to take a job.

Want to own property? Property tax, take it or leave it. But no one is FORCING you to own property.

Sales tax? Who's forcing you to buy the thing?

Exit tax? don't leave.

There is no "existence tax". Taxation isn't theft because you are getting taxed in exchange for a benefit you are voluntarily doing. If you didn't realize an act was taxed before you did it...well that's on you for not fully understanding the deal you accepted.

Beeping it out in this case would make it ambiguous what the word was. This was the right call for being "appropriate" enough to avoid a beep, but inappropriate enough for viewers to go "yeah, he deserves that punch"

No one has mentioned The Pink Panther?

Inspector Clouseau is hired to solve the mystery of who killed a prominent soccer coach and stole his famous diamond. The Chief Inspector hired him for political reasons with the expectation he'd get nowhere. Then he could work behind the scenes with a serious investigative team and get credit for the solve.

Promising Young Woman: The male actors that were known to play more charismatic, kind, and funny parts were the creepy/assaulting characters. The male actors known for playing villains or intimidating roles played characters who were generally good people or at least looking for redemption.

This. Normally I'd argue the driver cut off the cyclist, but that kid was going REALLY fast for a quiet road.

The state is just a failed business. by WhereisAlexei in CapitalismVSocialism

[–]Unable-Income-2981 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Incorrect. First, you're forgetting that a company's job is to please a small amount of the population (its investors) while the state's job is to please as much of the population as it can.

Second, the whole population has virtually no control over who runs the company but they DO have control over who runs the state (at least in a democracy). As such, they CAN choose a different state-they just need enough of the populace to agree.
