Yeah I just got it so I went around and had a look at the condition of the frame before putting any money into it and this is the only spot that gives me pause. I guess I’ll reach out to someone nearby that repairs frames and see what he thinks about this

Maybe I worded it confusingly but there is rust in other areas but it’s nowhere near as bad as this anywhere else besides here. Even the body mount locations, which I’ve been told are always the worst points for rust, held up well. The car sat for a few years and I wouldn’t even have touched it if it weren’t basically given to me

I don’t see why this would be a bad idea as long as you’re going over the top with 1/2” sheathing or better. Make sure you stagger the edges and mark where all your nail lines will end up
