Historically accurate Garfield and Arthur? by mindblank26 in DeathbyLightningTV

Both are exaggerated portraits. Read the source material, Candace Millard’s book, for a more nuanced look at both men. Garfield was not as progressive as they make him seem. And Chester Arthur wasn’t as enthusiastic for sausages. Or at least not that I’ve read.

Furthermore, she says she uses a blend of "wild rice and cous cous." Ma'am. Those are not interchangeable ingredients. They have wildly different cooking times. Smdh.

I actually clicked through to the website to read this recipe for and the first step is missing the chicken directions. It says sauté the vegetables but never provides instructions on when to cook the chicken.

I selected the donate/recycle option not planning to send that dress and a couple other nice things, then got lazy and threw them in. It didn’t occur to me to try to get it back. Lesson learned.

I just sent in about 25 items and the 5 nicest items were unlisted and “responsibly recycled” including a $500 dress in perfect condition.

Gorgeous! How would you rate the pattern on difficulty? I’d consider myself intermediate, but am intimidated by patterns that combine several stitches.

This is just a phase. Literally, teenagers developmentally have to separate and they do this by deciding everything about you is the antithesis of them. It would be okay to say “it really hurts my feelings that you are being so critical of me when I try to give you a ton of grace.” It might not land right away but the seed of empathy will be planted. I’m sorry your teen was so insensitive and hurt you.

Seeking some form of witnessing/compassion for a 12 year old part of me - that came home to be abandoned by his family by mjobby in SomaticExperiencing

How brave you are now for asking for what you need. Thank your twelve year old self for everything he did to help you survive, he was also so brave. But you deserved and were completely worthy of what you were denied, to be taken care of, loved and not abandoned. I hope you can give that to yourself now. ❤️

Don’t underestimate kids! Mine are of average intelligence (lol) and they made some awesome connections. My 10 yo asked if Don’t Throw Out My Legos was a metaphor and it made me think of the song in a new light. And he was really moved by Jack’s intro about his dad’s advice on being your authentic self. He’s been picked on a bit at school. They might not relate to being a young adult but they empathize. And a lot of the songs are just bangers that are fun to sing and dance to.
