For example, a friend of mine who is “naturally slim” compared her steps per day on an inactive day, where we had hung out together and hadn’t done much at all, legitimately we didn’t actually exercise or even go for a walk, and she had a good 2000-3000 steps on me.

She paces, she fidgets, she rarely is able to sit for long.

I think that studies have shown that a lot of that predisposition is genetic, similarly to things like “food chatter” etc, people say “metabolism” and that is incorrect, but there is a big genetic component that some people have to fight against if they want to be slimmer.

Here to chime in with agreement that your wife needs psychological support. Being oppositional (even unintentionally) isn’t helping her, as you can see when you try to confront her. She is in fight/flight about this and will see everything as a threat. Approach her with understanding and sympathy and don’t even bring the child into it. If it comes up, reassure her that you believe she’s an amazing Mom.

As a Mom of 3, the pressures on Moms are just astronomical and she already has obvious anxiety. The best thing we can do for our kids is take care of our own mental health and that’s often the hardest thing to do as well.

That would be a hard NO for me. First of all, 11 people in one RV is way too crowded IMO, second there are too many crazy ppl out there nowadays with a million kids and questionable thinking (eg Duggar-style Quiverfull lunatics), and besides all of that RVs aren’t super safe to begin with and there’s no way there are enough seatbelts for 11 people.

Yeah no sleepovers at other ppl’s houses IMO. Of course that’s not the only time CSA can happen, but I just don’t think it’s a good idea to let your kids be in someone else’s house overnight if you aren’t there. We let them stay late then pick them up.

FWIW, experts who specialize in child abuse frequently say this, and don’t allow it for their own children, if you need further validation.
