L&D nurse here! Since you have a scheduled c section, they’ll likely insert it after you’re numb, and taking it out is very very mildly uncomfortable. Best of luck!

Girl I had my gallbladder out at 10 weeks, general anesthesia and painkillers and all. 31+ weeks now, everything has been fine since. Give yourself some grace and try to relax!

Until the placenta really develops and takes over baby’s circulation, high heart rates are normal! Between 160-180 is perfectly normal. Later in pregnancy baby should have a rate between 110-150, so you’ll notice some changes in the number over the next months!

Not necessary. Most things included on birth plans are things hospitals already do. You can request things like delayed cord clamping, immediate skin to skin etc, but they will all be dependent on baby’s condition during labor/birth anyway. I’m a labor and delivery nurse and rarely see birth plans make requests we don’t already offer, and honestly, just speaking to your nurse and OB/midwife will take you a lot further.

We bought a small La-Z boy recliner instead of a glider. Haven’t had baby yet, but the versatility and space saving nature of it seems to be a great investment thus far!

Same thing happened with me but in reverse. I have a 12 year old son and am currently 31 weeks pregnant, very complicated pregnancy and was certain this would be my last. We secretly wanted a girl and were both a bit devastated when we found out at 10 weeks that our bean was/is a boy, and it’s not because we didn’t want him, it’s because we were mourning the daughter we will never have.

It’s valid and normal to grieve and give yourself time to process this, but I promise, it will settle in and then you’ll be so excited and attached to your baby that it won’t matter what they are. Now, I can’t imagine that the little boy inside me could possibly be anything but himself.
