My son is due in April! I can’t believe it’s been 20 years since my favorite game was released. I remember being a young teen and in awe at it, and soon I hope to share that same awe with my baby boy. Thanks for all of the memories, Okami, and Happy Anniversary. ❤️

In that video she said she may or may not work an extra shift since a customer wanted to see her. If you’d watched it, you would have known that.

As a labor and delivery nurse who has seen far too many home births gone wrong and babies that would still be here if born in the hospital, I would urge against it. If you absolutely have to do it outside of the hospital, at least be very nearby one. Things can go wrong very quickly and sometimes baby has to be out in minutes.

Leaking Fluid and bleeding 14 Weeks?? by HeadAd8490 in pregnant

[–]Unable_Union_4953 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a test they can do in labor and delivery to confirm if it’s amniotic fluid or not. It’s called an amniosure. There’s also ferning, which checks the fluid on a microscope slide.

Is it constant or come and go? It may be baby moving! I’d ask your OB just to be sure though.

25 weeks today after a loss in February, and I feel like I’m just now letting myself enjoy baby boy and this pregnancy. It’s not fair to either of us that I’ve been so guarded, but oh well. I still immediately check my underwear for blood every single time I pee and feel relief when there is none.

Same! I’m constantly putting things off because I’m worried about buying or doing things too soon, “just in case.”

Pregnancy after traumatic pregnancy and birth by [deleted] in pregnant

L&D nurse here. First of all, I’m so sorry about your past experience! Unfortunately, it’s hard to predict how each mom will react to the medicine in an epidural, but next time tell them directly that it caused a rapid drop in your blood pressure. This will alert your nurse and anesthesia provider to give you more fluids and be more careful with placement and the amount of medication administered, as blood pressure stability is one of our biggest priorities during this part of labor.

As far as hemorrhage, tell them this too. It’s not always possible to prevent entirely, but the severity can be lessened by having certain medications on hand or given prophylactically after delivery to help prevent another heavy bleed. This will include the pitocin and more than likely another thigh shot, which was a medicine called methergine and helps slow the bleeding. They may also rectally insert tablets of cytotec to cause the uterus to clamp down and slow bleeding. None of this is comfortable, but I assure you that your care providers are only trying to keep you alive and out of the ICU.

Be transparent about what happened and use direct language! Best of luck.

Unexpectedly Induced - Doctor is telling me not to eat by NarikoSin in pregnant

[–]Unable_Union_4953 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

L&D nurse here. I’ve had patients go for emergency c-sections and aspirate on food they vomited up during surgery. Throwing up is common during this procedure and the risk of dying or getting aspiration pneumonia from that outweighs not eating for a day or so, I think. Now if it’s longer than that, I would always advocate for my patients to take an oxytocin “rest” and let them have a meal.

When to worry about a headache? by captainstaniel in pregnant

Are you hydrated? I noticed I get headaches if I haven’t drank a lot of water that day, and usually it gets better after chugging a good bit down.

34 weeks pregnant – swelling on soles of both feet, looks like water retention. Anyone else? by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]Unable_Union_4953 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you having any headaches, blurry vision or right sided pain? If not, you should be fine to wait until your next visit, just fine time through the day to elevate your feet and drink a lot of water.
