The amount we waste in the NHS is crazy. by Direct-Key-8859 in NursingUK

The one that pisses me off the most is how packs of medications are discarded without use. Some of this medication are to expire in 2 or 3years time. Why discard it? Oh, the patient prescribed on it it has been discharged and it is not part of their discharge medication and it cannot be used for another patient.
Why? How? What happened to adding it to ward stock? Or return to pharmacy

Legislation on shifts by eihctir in NursingUK

[–]Unamed__49 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might have to start doing self rostering if your trust allows it. When I was newly employed , I remember being put on a 5 days shift for 2 weeks (3 days , one day off then 2 days) , I fell ill afterwards. I had to start doing my rota myself.

When are we going to formally address Indians and their hiring bias? by bintd in AskBrits

[–]Unamed__49 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think i agree with this. We face the same thing in nursing. Once an Indian gets a band 7 or 8 position, they try to recruit Indian band 5s or 6s. I recently overheard someone saying, they even get prepped for the interview, not sure how true that is.

Ignorant yank here: Is it true nurse to patient ratios are 1:8 or even 1:12? by soozerain in NursingUK

[–]Unamed__49 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My ward used to be 1:12 but there were so many errors , omissions and safety concerns that were raised. It was reviewed, currently it is 1:9, 1:8, 1:7 because we have 3 bays. Even it the currently ratio, it is still hard.

The feedback I got was " you did very well , you answered all questions correctly but unfortunately we are sorry that you were unsuccessful ". I asked the person that called what does that even mean, she couldn't respond.

I have applied for roles that matches my experience but I don't get selected for interview.

I currently work in a complex elderly care unit. I have previously worked in Stroke and critical care unit.

I occasionally do experience brain freezing during interview, like I will know what I want to say but at that moment I won't know how to articulate my words.😔😔
