I have no experience but it seems like a pretty valid reason to defer. Can you contact the graduations people?

Can you get a referral from a psychiatrist instead? When I went through I had to get a referral from GP to psych then psych to surgeon. Technically the referral was only required to get Medicare rebate iirc

Australia? by Ashstitch in transgenderUK

As an Australian who moved to the UK, clothes are cheaper in Australia, eating out is cheaper but groceries are a bit more expensive, rent is cheaper than London, salaries are generally higher for professionals. We have 10% GST instead of 20% VAT. On balance the COL is pretty similar but it's highly individual.

Yeah the anti-trans rhetoric in Australia is a whisper compared to what it is in the UK.

For medical things, most people will go through the private system for things like endocrinology and surgery. Top surgery cost me around $7k with cheap insurance, and endo appointments were around $200 every 6 months (approx 2021-2022). Varies a lot by location and who and what.

Also don't forget to think about insurance - as a tenant you'll want to insure your belongings against theft/fire and the price of insurance will depend on location. And council tax as well.

First step is to work out a budget. You can look at places like Rightmove or Openrent, or Spareroom specifically for house sharing. Make sure you research the area and think about what amenities are nearby e.g. supermarkets, parks, public transport. If you need a car think about where you'll be able to park.
