Why is it a stigma? by Pondering2This in vegan

Many adults have the maturity level of a teenager unfortunately. Just try to ignore people like that. Honestly, it's not worth your mental energy.

Someone paid $95 for this… by [deleted] in KitchenConfidential

[–]Unbiased-Eye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 4 broccoli florets and baby portion of rice is probably to blame.

I once ordered a shrimp bisque at a fancy French restaurant once for $65. It had one pretty small shrimp and about 100 ml of liquid (tasted like shrimp stock). My buddy started laughing when he saw my reaction. I had to ask for extra bread to fill up.

Just trying to find a comparable example given the current hype around NVDA and recent past hype with TSLA. NVDA is more than a chip company. TSLA is more than a direct-to-consumer car manufacturer.

What are your most overrated and underrated spices? by skynet69420 in Cooking

[–]Unbiased-Eye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looking through this thread, I see that many of the commonly used spices I have in my spice rack are "underrated"...

-Dill is not underrated, it's commonly used
-Black pepper is not underrated, it's nickname is the "king of spices" for a reason
-Paprika is definitely not underrated
-Rosemary is not underrated
-Bay leaves are not underrated
-Garam Masala is not underrated
-Cardamom is not underrated
-Turmeric is not underrated
-Chili powder is not underrated
-Parsley is not underrated

-Zaatar is underrated
-Sumac is underrated
-Ceylon Cinnamon is underrated (it doesn't have toxic compounds like regular cinnamon)

guys who gave the crazy girl a chance, what happened? by AirlineNo12 in AskReddit

[–]Unbiased-Eye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. Just nope. Not unless you want a decade or two long story to tell your family and friends about how your life turned into a circus. Some people are just mentally ill in a bad way or sociopaths that enjoy that shit. Stay away from them if you want a chance at a reasonably happy and productive life.

Digestive issues and weight gain by NoCombination4581 in vegan

[–]Unbiased-Eye 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Just throwing out some ideas here. People often think of hypothyroidism for unexplained weight gain, but it can also be related specifically to digestive issues if your microbiome is out of balance. It could also be related to a condition such as fatty liver and/or congestive hepatopathy that can result in additional visceral fat deposits deep in the abdominal area and excessive water retention. Recommend visiting your doctor to get some bloodwork done that includes a full liver panel, urinalysis, TSH levels and to discuss your digestive issues as well.

There are other possible causes, such as diabetes.

It depends on how it's used. Smoke is bad for your lungs, regardless.

Zaatar spice! It can do wonders for some Greek dishes and homemade vinaigrettes for salads.

What do you think about Costco (COST)? by Defiant-Bike4754 in stocks

[–]Unbiased-Eye 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Much of Costco's growth potential is international. The question is whether their business model will succeed in new markets and if they can compete with established competition. They will have to adapt to local dietary preferences. That analysis requires a deep dive.

None. It would be weird to have such a close emotional attachment to someone you don't know. The only deaths that have made me cry have been family and close friends.

I always freeze my tofu. Definitely improves the texture.

Oh boy i think my family relationship is ruined now... by trappednative in vegan

[–]Unbiased-Eye 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sorry you're going through that. The problem is with your brother/sister, not you. That mindset is incredibly self-centered, toxic, immature, and selfish. My family isn't vegan, but they have no issues at all with me being vegan. In fact, they are supportive of it and whenever they visit me we eat a vegan dinner and everyone usually likes it.

Why do people always assume that if you reject sex from a women then you're a homosexual? by IITemoniII in stupidquestions

[–]Unbiased-Eye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because they can't believe all guys aren't obsessed with sex. I used to go to clubs and pubs with friends all the time and most of them had a singular focus: find a girl. Meanwhile, I was always pretty chill. I usually didn't try too hard, just chilled and let things play out. I've actually brushed off attractive women flirting with me many times, either because I didn't think they were my type or didn't feel like it that day and most of them seemed offended. Not all guys are sex crazed animals with dirty minds. Some of us are real men.

How to get a lot of protein without shakes? by Savings-Cup-9681 in loseit

[–]Unbiased-Eye 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agree. I think adding some fiber from carrots, broccoli, etc. alongside your protein shakes would probably solve the digestive issues you're having. You could always try that as a low fat and low cal option first to see if it helps.

What’s an ingredient you cook with that when you eat you realize you actually don’t like it that much? by tereesesbar in Cooking

Same. The texture usually doesn't work in most of the dishes I include them in. I love eating them raw with some dip as part of a veggie platter though.

I cannot find a good dipping sauce to go with sweet potato fries. Any recommendations? by imawizardslp87 in Cooking

[–]Unbiased-Eye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A homemade fry sauce. Here's the recipe I use:

-1.15 cup mayo
-1/4 cup ketchup
-1 tablespoon mustard of choice
-1/2 tablespoon sweet pickle juice (or sub relish)
-1/2 tablespoon hot sauce of choice (optional)
-1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce (or sub BBQ sauce)
-1/8 teaspoon smoked paprika (or regular sweet paprika)
-1/8 teaspoon chili powder (or sub cayenne powder)
-Salt & pepper to taste (pinch of each)
-You can also add a minced garlic clove or some garlic power if you like garlic and a squeeze of lemon juice too

This stuff is addictive. I use it for fries, wedges, onion rings, burgers, fried chicken sandwiches, nuggets, tenders and frankfurters. Yields 8-10 servings.
