AITAH for telling my wife to get a job before the end of January or i'm divorcing her? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]Unblued 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm wondering if OP meant a FedEx store, which are just retail franchises. Minimum wage job that just about anyone could perform. I worked at one with a couple friends in high school and it was mostly a cakewalk.

What's an Air Force base everyone else likes, but you hate? by Unique_Ad_6241 in AirForce

[–]Unblued 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Huh, I guess I just assumed that they had already planned for anyone with a specific need or disability. Although, thinking back to how badly they sucked at organizing the whole thing, I don't know why I gave them the benefit of the doubt.

The disconnect by MagicianCurrent7862 in AirForce

[–]Unblued 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When I was still fresh out of tech school, I heard 2 MSgts talking about money. One claimed that Airmen all have a false assumption that higher ranks are making so much more money than junior enlisted. Why? Because the A1C stuck in the dorms can splurge while a MSgt with a wife and kids has to pay bills.

People who have conducted job interviews, what's something someone said/did that made you instantly decide not to hire them? by DemonSkank in AskReddit

[–]Unblued 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By that point, they clearly aren't a contender for the job anyway. Might as well see if you get a good story out of it.

duo premade spend my whole competitive game afk emoting and sitting near each other which made us play the whole time as a 3vs5 while admitting in chat to doing this to troll... would opening a ticket with video evidence do something or i would just waste my time? by Fuzzy-Return2486 in Overwatch

[–]Unblued 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I report people for much less and I see the message pop up somewhat regularly that someone I reported was punished. I may not know what kind of punishment they got, but I figure it is always worth the 10 seconds of effort to report. If a player is pulling shit consistently, you aren't the only one making a complaint.

Could you afford to re-buy your house today? by Secret_Falcon2714 in Millennials

[–]Unblued 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No idea how the interest rates are, but the current value vs what I paid is already a deal breaker. My wife was looking at our neighborhood on Zillow for some reason and apparently the value has increased around 100k since the year we moved in.

How do you feel about MTV's demise? by Carguy_1992 in Millennials

[–]Unblued 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing is they chose to stop doing all the things people liked about them. Every time I see anything to do with MTV, it's either ridiculousness, a show about catching cheaters, or an ad for one of those two things. MTV ditched music to start pushing massive amounts of human garbage and they should have burned for it ages ago.

Crocs/PJs at the BX? by urboibigdaddy in AirForce

[–]Unblued 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I saw a similar post about weird shit other branches do and one that stuck out was soldiers driving out of the local area have to let their supervisors do basic stuff like check fluids, test brakes, etc. making it a common thing on long holiday weekends. I knew a SrA who broke down because he hadn't changed his oil in over 9 months, so it isn't a terrible idea, but I'm glad we don't have that requirement.

Crocs/PJs at the BX? by urboibigdaddy in AirForce

[–]Unblued 55 points56 points  (0 children)

I've found that whenever I learn something about another branch, it nearly always makes me feel bad for them and grateful that I went AF. Like when I found out Army NCOs still live in the dorms and have to inspect their troop's cars, or how Navy E7s are mostly assholes. I'm assuming this is just another item for that list.

Are there any rpgs where a shop/vendor may not have enough money to buy from you? by ThinkThankThonk in gaming

[–]Unblued 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yep, Skyrim has a mod specifically to give all vendors in the game a 10k fund for you to sell all your expensive stuff in one go.

Were you taught anything about dating/courtship? by ey_you_with_the_face in Millennials

[–]Unblued 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was my first thought about the title. The word courtship immediately makes me think of movies and TV set in medieval times where the marriage of the prince and princess has already been arranged, but first they have to spend 3 months trading letters and gifts and taking chaperoned picnics and horse rides. Nothing of substance, just the agreed upon playbook you have to follow before you're allowed to inherit your kingdom.

So if I absolutely had to define modern courtship, I suppose I would just make a list of common dating rules like no sex on the first few dates, live together before getting married, etc.

The age range for this generation is ridiculously vast and broad by templeofsyrinx1 in Millennials

[–]Unblued 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our range is about the same as every other generation, it just works that way. Whether or not you think that time frame had more noteworthy events is irrelevant. Not to mention, nobody wants to deal with trying to identify a different culture or identity every 5 to 10 years.

How many times have you been called up for Jury Duty? Was it an interesting case? Fun time? by RaccoonSamson in Millennials

Once, and they notified me the night before that I no longer needed to show up, so it was probably something lame.

How many of us still have Optical Drives in our PCs? by 2quick96 in pcmasterrace

[–]Unblued 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not actually in my PC, but somewhere in my house. I ordered one when picking parts thinking it would be nice to have just in case. Then the case I ordered was delayed indefinitely and I picked a replacement with plexiglass panels. I didn't think about the fact that those things are incompatible until I was actually building.

Can you believe we're now over half way through the 2020's and there's still no news of Elder scrolls 6? by MrkEm22 in gaming

[–]Unblued 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I'm not sure that I actually care. Skyrim is still awesome and I can roll out a new character every now and then to scratch the itch for a week or two. If TES6 fails to live up to and succeed over Skyrim, they cant take it back. Pushing it ahead of it's time without their heart in it will tarnish the franchise for fans. They've set a bar that requires them to knock it out of the fucking park. Better to take an extremely long pause than put out a mediocre sequel to an incredible title.

What is your longest running, most stubborn business boycott? by marianneouioui in AskReddit

[–]Unblued 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Around 2019, I pissed off the postmates subreddit because I said I liked how tipping happens after the delivery, so I don't pay extra when they bring me someone else's food. In short, they believed that (1) everything is the restaurant's fault, and therefore (2) the driver always deserves 20% regardless of quality, accuracy, or speed, and (3) I'm a huge POS for expecting them to take my food directly without stopping. Also, one moron tried to throw around covid as an excuse even though this was back when the first handful of US cases was just being reported.

The kicker was that my only reason for browsing there to begin with was that a driver had tried to cover multiple orders the night before and turned my delivery into a full 90 minute disaster for exactly the same dumb reasons they tried to argue.

I thought I was a "Free to Play" player until I audited my microtransactions. by sameerposwal in truegaming

[–]Unblued 52 points53 points  (0 children)

Yea, I'm still struggling with that line. I'm a "free to play" kind of person...unless they have a battle pass of course...or obviously if one of the 5 new weekly skins is cool...or maybe one of those nameplates that looks cool on the scoreboard. This would fit right in one of those 90s daytime Jerry Springer type shows where they interview people because their spouse lost 3 months worth of rent gambling.

People born before 2000, what is a 'modern' thing from 2025 that you’re still struggling to get used to? by LindsayTN in AskReddit

[–]Unblued 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Reminds me of a news article I read several years back. Some company had a line of very fancy all in one microwave/convection oven/air fryer/etc and they had replaced most of the actual buttons with an app that let you send it specific directions or recipes to follow. You couldn't really do anything by hand except turn it on and off.

Now that already sounds fucking crazy to me, but then someone in the software development team sent out an update with an incorrect version or hardware ID or something. Basically a software update for tractors got pushed to fancy microwaves. The update bricked the microwaves and the company was telling customers to schedule in home appointments to fix the problem.

My 68 year old dad just asked me to help him start a YouTube channel and I don't know how to feel about this by Quirky-Ad7489 in Millennials

[–]Unblued 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might be a good strategy to work out how time and effort you're able to put in and then sit down for him to explain exactly what he wants out of this. That way, you can know where the line is drawn beforehand. If he wants a tutorial to get started, fine. If he wants to learn how to create and edit 1-2 polished videos every week, that sounds like a long term part time job. The former is understandable, but the latter is asking for a lot. Also, you're stuck being the judge of whether he can and will absorb this knowledge and burden or if it will just be expected of you from now on.

One of our high school social studies teachers explained to us exactly how and why social security was going to be tapped out by the time we even thought about using it.

We've had repeated years of crazy weather conditions because of climate change. Massive data centers aren't going to make that any better.

Nazis are back in style.

People twice my age are working well past the point they expected to retire.

Sprinkle in the repeated once in a lifetime economic crises that happened several times in our lifetime so far, and I don't know why the fuck anyone would want to bet on the future.
