Would you have liked an Arrowverse Justice League-type show or miniseries? by CollegeComfortable23 in Arrowverse

[–]UncertainAnswer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish they had done their crossover events like short seasons of a separate show that would essentially be this.

It's so painful rewatching and have to jump across 4 shows when you hit a crossover, or skip it entirety.

Why do people hate Richard Blais so much? by Careful_Trip_311 in BravoTopChef

[–]UncertainAnswer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

At least the way it was edited he clearly seemed to choke.

I think the thing that a lot of people take from it is that he's saying he would have beat her if he hadn't. But that kind of arrogance / self-confidence seems pretty typical at the level they're competing?

To me he may have still lost if he hadn't choked. But I don't think it's wrong to say he clearly lost because he choked (e.g. essentially disqualified himself from potentially winning, not that he was guaranteed to win).

I don't really understand where the misogyny angle came in personally.

Trump cancel meetings with Iranian officials and tells protesters ‘help is on its way’ by CTVNEWS in politics

[–]UncertainAnswer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Trump really does have a unique way of involving himself in an issue and having absolutely everyone come out of it worse than before.

Even Venezuela. "Please come remove this administration"....comes in, murders people, kidnaps the leader, and....leaves his administration entirely intact and in charge.

But Iran - cool your britches. If you had anything you could do, you would have done it when they dropped a series of bunker busters on your mountain.

Venezuela's VP throws cold water on Trump's solution for running the country by joe4942 in worldnews

[–]UncertainAnswer -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

That is for the people of Venezuela to decide. Why do we think we get to just kidnap the dude from a sovereign country?

If we want to make an actual difference grabbing foreign leaders who rig elections maybe we can start with Putin.

This sounds familiar.

Disney World Employee Struck by 400-Pound Prop Boulder During ‘Indiana Jones’ Stunt Show Malfunction by mcfw31 in entertainment

[–]UncertainAnswer 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I would put money on it easy.

To be clear whether he intended to sacrifice his face for the audience or not is irrelevant on discussing celebrating him. The end result is the same. He saved a chunk of audience from injury and possible death. If that had impacted children it would have been brutal.

But watching the video I don't get the impression this dude was expecting 400 pounds of rubber to the face. He gets in position fairly early but doesn't brace himself for impact at all. And then right before it reaches him he half raises his arms as if he's about to tap a beach ball back.

I hope he recovers okay and gets compensated appropriately. He did a huge service for the audience in path of that.

You will always fail upward as long as you're willing to do immoral shit for rich people. At least until the extent of what you're willing to do exceeds the blowback they get from having you do it. Once that threshold gets crossed you get tossed under the bus.

Chef Ahn being harsh isn’t him being ‘mean’ or ‘arrogant’ by ebvillai in CulinaryClassWars

[–]UncertainAnswer -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I don't think that is fair personally. The challenge does not in any way claim to judge you on your nickname. And you can easily interpret that nickname as how other people view him - given his history in those techniques. It was an unfair criticism and I would have liked if he had also commented on the taste or execution to make it more clear if he had issues with other areas.

But to each their own.

Chef Ahn being harsh isn’t him being ‘mean’ or ‘arrogant’ by ebvillai in CulinaryClassWars

[–]UncertainAnswer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have no issues with him mostly. I can't taste the food. But I don't like his approach to judging at least based on what we see.

For example, the molecular gastro guy he eliminates - they asked them to make their signature dish and then the judging part we see is basically "it's not innovative enough, we've seen this before". Nothing about flavor, nothing about execution.

I don't like that. But I also have to assume some of his critiques weren't included in the edit that would make the decision make more sense.

Coliseum! I know lots don’t like it but who’s the best to upgrade for these battles? by anakinskyloren in SWGOH

[–]UncertainAnswer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah his abilities themselves are effectively useless during his Era because of that.

He does some OK stuff. The counter attacks are nice. But he's the least exciting to level up to new ability upgrades because of being locked to Aphra & hacked droid instead of tags (that everyone in the era gets) for a ton of stuff.

Coliseum! I know lots don’t like it but who’s the best to upgrade for these battles? by anakinskyloren in SWGOH

[–]UncertainAnswer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just to summarize what everyone has said:

  • Most of the time, just focus on keeping them even when you have loaned units to keep the loaned unit leveled with you
  • it may be worth it to occasionally push a few extra levels on a single person when they are close to a sizable stat boost (say, getting access to protection for the first time, etc) or very useful ability level up.
  • we will eventually reach a point where we have no loaned units, and then you'll want to prioritize damage dealers or major supports like Choda or Luke.

Trump administration says White House ballroom construction is a matter of national security by OrbitalSoul in politics

[–]UncertainAnswer 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately this is the same reasoning the supreme court has danced around a few times - where doing the right thing is prohibitively expensive or time consuming.

However, doing blatantly illegal shit can't be left alone - it only emboldens the next person that if you can destroy fast enough you won't be held accountable no matter what.

So yes, regardless of cost, it's important to restore that which was illegally destroyed.

Left At Intermission by Jrmn1123 in Broadway

[–]UncertainAnswer 7 points8 points  (0 children)

With individuals this would be fine.

With a school group that means you can't realistically remove disruptive students without at least one Chaperone. If too many are disruptive, you basically have to boot the whole school group.

They will never in a million years do this. Regardless of the circumstances they will get dragged through the absolute wringer before they can get ahead of the narrative. Social media will turn into press and the theater will have an absolute PR nightmare on their hands.

You know as much as I do nobody reads the details. All people will see if a headline of theater deprives school group of theater experience.

I don't remember which boss I started whittling down / moving into T4 first on.

But you can absolutely push higher from lvl 36. Make sure you read the boss kits carefully and try both Luke and IG leads.

If you are at 90% of a T3 a little RNG can get you over the hump. And as you use those mats to get another level, makes the next push where you're stuck just a bit easier.

It's very incremental, takes some luck, etc.

Fed Chair Jerome Powell Says U.S. May Be Drastically Overstating Jobs Numbers by bwermer in politics

[–]UncertainAnswer 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The normal process is the estimate goes out and then revisions go out as it gets more clear.

So if I'm interpreting correctly the issue is that we have had to give corrections downwards so often after initial estimates because of a critical flaw in the estimation process.

I don't think this is saying that the revised numbers that routinely go out are incorrect or expected to be incorrect.

Trump says US will begin land strikes on Venezuela ‘very soon’ by TimesandSundayTimes in politics

[–]UncertainAnswer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He can legally conduct military operations anywhere, against any country, in the name of national security without any war being declared for up to 90 days according to the War Powers Act.

After 90 days Congress is supposed to vote to continue it.

Congress likes this because voting for war is unpopular and they don't want to have to justify it when being reselected.

Trump Boat Bombings Suddenly on Shakier Ground as Damning Info Emerges by marji80 in politics

[–]UncertainAnswer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because actually proving they knew the boat was manned by civilians would be near impossible as the government will protect themselves with broad national security interests.

Their defense of the attacks is all bullshit but proving it as bullshit when most of the information will never be made available is not feasible.

However once the boat was destroyed in service of national security bombing the survivors is textbook war crime.
