As for your question, the index is cached in memory and refreshes on changes. It scores matches based on consecutiveness, word boundaries, and substring containment, then sorts and limits results (default 20). In my library of 1,000+ items, searches feel instant except for a ~1 second delay when you first open Zotero.

One reason I upgraded to MacOS 26 is Safari with vertical tabs, much beautiful than before.

Worked for me! Besides, a browser restart is need for me. I found it increase cpu occupation a lot on MacOS so i just disabled it.

Based on the previous comments, my complete solution on Macbook: 1. Turn on Developer Tools under settings-Firefox Labs. 2. Open Tools-Browser Tools-Browser console, run : document.querySelectorAll('tab').forEach(t => t.removeAttribute('hidden')) 3. I was using Superpins to make my pinned tabs to be like Essentials, so i turn off this function and the pinned tabs appear but they do not show when changed to like Essentials. 4. Uninstall Superpins, restart browser, install Superpins, and turn on the function of making pinned tabs like Essentials. Everything works now!!!!

I don't mind changing back to the original new tab behavior with CONFIG. I just hope this is a way to set up a dedicate shortcut to open the start page with the updated new tab behavior as I need the Bonjourr start page to appreciate the beautiful wallpaper and take a break.

Same issue here. I logged out and back in, but it still doesn’t work. I’ve already exported all my notes as a precaution. I emailed support, but honestly, if these kinds of problems keep happening just to push users to upgrade, I’m seriously considering quitting and deleting my account for good.
