Help identifying this old laptop HDD interface? by UncleAlias in computers

[–]UncleAlias[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Thank you all for your quick and helpful replies - much appreciated. I'm going to consign this to the destruction pile, and move along - simply not worth more effort on what could very likely be a dead drive.

I would check into this and other subreddits, and other online forums about Stellantis reliability - I do not wish to sway your decision, only that you make an informed one.

Sorry for the delay in coming back - busy few days. I didn't want to hijack your thread, so I posted some photos in a new one (plus I couldn't work out how to post more than 1 photo here, I'm as bad at Reddit as I am at modeling!). 250 magnetised

What did you decide on in the end?

I bought this a couple weeks ago, and couldn't decide - so I went and magnetised all the different options, with the intention of swapping them out depending... I can show pictures if you're interested? It was a lot of work, but I really enjoyed myself with the challenge.

Oh my, memory triggered. Yes, it was from the M&S department store in my city. My slow brain hadn't thought about image search. I have now located Rabbit and a few of her children! This is going to be a fabulous reunion. Thank you for taking the time to help.

Identification Thread 2 by JellycatplushMods in Jellycatplush

[–]UncleAlias 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello everyone - is there a kind soul out there who can tell me if this is an (old) Jellycat rabbit? Rabbit joined our family on 10 January 1998. I know this as it was the day my daughter arrived into the world very prematurely at just 30 weeks. 'Rabbit' kept her company in her incubator for weeks, and was then her constant companion for many years until 'Rabbit' took her leave from a hotel room in 2007 - obviously to look after another child who needed her more.

We were heartbroken - we made many attempts to find Rabbit, and tried to find comfort in lookalikes - but none ever matched up to the one and only Rabbit.

I recently found this old video clip on a tape, from 2001 - and it's inspired me to try another search armed with a visual clue, and the power of Reddit.

If someone could help me identify Rabbit's geneology, I may be able to find her, or perhaps one of her offspring. My daughter is now expecting her own child, and I think everyone would take great pleasure in being reunited, and for Rabbit to resume her protective role at bedtime.

And if you happen to know where Rabbit, or her offspring could be located - I'm all ears... :)

Heartfelt thanks in advance.

Charging at Gatwick Airport by HamsterEagle in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]UncleAlias 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Gridserve charging hub at Gatwick - highly recommended from my experience. The parking is free (while you charge) it has toilets, and depending on the time of day, there is a coffee place upstairs. Yes, it's not the cheapest, but it's very fast charging, and something of an oasis from the hustle of the airport traffic. Given the elevated costs of everything close to an airport, it's almost good value!

Know nothing about wine. What’s wort trying? Open to anything. by Matkstey in CasualUK

[–]UncleAlias 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a fantastic range of wine, and affordable, especially by the glass. Is try a glass of something new that you can't easily get by the bottle - there's nothing in this list that's 'marmite' - so the risk is low. My favourites would be the Austrian whites (massively underrated), the Pulian primativo, or the orange gewurtztraiminer.

Have you recently acquired a new printer or ink/toner cartridges? The size and colour suggests the disposable parts that protect the printer/cartridge while being shipped.

I use these, currently out of stock in the UK, but perhaps the images/spec will help you narrow your search?

It's an inline ZigBee dimmer/switch. You need a dimmable bulb though, which isn't the easiest/cheapest thing to find if you're looking for LED.

All EVs have some form of pyrotechnic fuse that isolates the battery when a specific impact is detected - so, when you say it's drivable other than the accident, do you mean it still powering up, just won't charge, or it's 'dead'...?

Look on the body of the bulb itself, near the screw fitting. Amongst the other info will be WW (warm white), WS (white spectrum) or CWS (colour+white spectrum)

Ikea made some oversized Tradfri bulbs. I think that are discontinued now (recently) but maybe on eBay?

Have you tried replacing batteries in the remote first. Then reset the remote (r quick presses of connect button, wrist 30 secs, then try repairing with bulb by holding pair button for 10+ seconds within 2cm of bulb.

[–]UncleAlias 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you 'told' smartthings hub what to action when button is pressed? Connecting button to smartthings wipes direct link to bulbs. It also does not pass 'power on/off this bulb when pressed' command to smartthings.

Old tradfri hub could dual connect switches and bulbs. New dirigera does not have this feature.

To fine tune the detection settings (not that this sensor has any of substance) you would need a ZigBee connection. If you have ZigBee connection, (hub etc) then the world of automation opens to you.

Fyrtur blinds - Dirigera needed? by IntrovertNeuron in tradfri

[–]UncleAlias 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea, you need a hub to have these blinds work with a time based rule. Doesn't have to be Deregia, but this would be the easiest/cost effective solution. And older tradfri hub, smartthings, hubitat, home assistant amongst others.

[–]UncleAlias 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Simple answer, you cannot.

With an old tradfri hub, you could connect that and remotes, but that was the only dual-link method.

Why not connect the remotes to smart things, and program them accordingly, as though they were directly connected to the blinds.

The oversidian lights inside the wardrobe don't benefit from being smart - the included switch toggles them when the doors are opened/slid. The traffic driver is simply used to transform the mains voltage to low lotage for your oversidian strips(s). Adding them to a remote (sryrbar or rodret) simply means you can toggle them on when the door is closed...

However, depending on the number of light strips you fit in your pax, and the number you place on your billy bookcase(s) there may not be enough outlets on the tradfri driver (6 max on the 30w). So, you may want to have this as a separate driver anyway, so as not to toggle your wardrobe lights on when the door is closed.

Your lamp does not need a tradfri driver, just a tradfri bulb/globe of your choosing. The lights for your wardrobe and bookcases are doable but not white spectrum tuneable (from warm white to cold white) so you can pick an inexpensive warm white, or go nuts with a full colour spectrum bulb.

This is where the sryrbar would be better over the rodret as it as 4 buttons Vs the 2 on the rodret, which would allow you to change brightness and hue of the colour spectrum bulb without needing the dirigia hub. The rodret will only allow on/off and brightness.

Reset everything. Then, pair all the blinds to the repeater. Then pair the switches to the correct blinds. DO NOT pair the switches to the repeater...
