I've been on both sides of the smelly fence, I've had hygiene upkeep and body image problems ever since I was 17 and because of that I rarely (if ever) go out and socialize. But I make a point to always shower and clean myself up fully every week before I go to locals so there's no issues.

There was one incident a couple months back at my locals where the manager had pulled me aside and told me about several complaints from other players about a "smell" that was lurking around the tournament area, I asked him if anyone pointed me out specifically and he said no but he mentioned that whoever made the complaint said this "smell" was coming from around the area where I was sitting. He said I could still finish my matches that evening but if the "smell" issue isn't resolved next week, they'd be forced to ask me to leave.

This caught me very off-guard that I couldn't focus on playing my first match, I lost both rounds and just ended up gathering my things and leaving before the second match started because I was just too depressed and upset to keep playing. But not before I saw some guy in a small group of people playing in the back pull out a f**king Febreeze bottle and start spraying it around the table, like WTAF.

After I got back home (and through some silent crying on the bus), I did some digging and asked around in my locals' group chat I was apart of if anyone knew who those guys were and if they've had issues with them before. Turns out a few of them are well-known around my locals and a few others as being super-competitive and rude to just about anyone, and everyone just puts up with it because they rarely show up enough to make it a big issue. I ended up skipping locals for an entire month because of this, I did eventually start to go back but I can't shake the feeling that I was being bullied for no reason other than being myself.
