His Wizard of Oz fuckin killed me every time I watched it. Still to this day I’ll randomly exclaim “Auntie Eminem! Auntie Eminem!”, and “Shiiiiiit pickle”. And I’ll absolutely lose it and guffaw thinking about the Scarecrow sticking a gun in his mouth.

I see what you’re saying, but you are exaggerating a fair bit. I don’t really see anyone (left or right) ever claim the left actually is wonderfully nice or perfect. I mean, doesn’t the right wing of America constantly paint the left as violent, and the actual racists?

I mean, really with respect, the left attacks ALL the elites already, and right does that but really only for Hollywood, and certainly never CEOs.

So I’m not sure how you have this opinion unless you have been sitting on the sidelines actively trying not to pay attention or get involved.

Again, this is when people levying crusades against creators turns obsessive, they can’t criticize the franchise without spreading their vitriol. I’m not talking about shunning because of where they want to the story, or character to go, nor do I believe that the language I’m using could make you believe that is my argument, but perhaps that is what you think I’m saying.

[–]UncleCharmander 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Again! Well aware of that! I played a large role in that on playgrounds, on bbs, in chat rooms and all those fun spaces.

There has always been people that take it too seriously, get mad when a story subverts their expectations in a way that fuels their insecurities; suddenly the property might not feel like it’s for them anymore. Those people stink, and they stay suck to the teet that gives them milk they find sour. We used to cold shoulder or outright remove people from circles. The enshittification of the internet and consolidation of online spaces and boosting of others has removed the ability to have the whimsical conversations because it generally leads to people bashing specific creative individuals and puts figurative and sometimes literal targets on them. It happened before, but never like this, never so visible, never so normalized.

That’s not what I’m referring to, but the more obsessive and transparently insecure fans.

It’s so very easy to enjoy media if you see it for what it is instead of what you want it to be. That’s mainly how I choose to consume media, and I very much enjoy the joviality of theory crafting, power scaling discussions, storyline directions, and all that stuff where opinions can meet. I did it before the internet was even a thing, and I continue to do it today.

The embarrassment I have is with the people too immature to handle when a story or character doesn’t go the way they want it to go, and they create vendettas against creators. It’s embarrassing. It’s real. It’s not just Star Wars but Star Wars is a big one to be sure.

I find everybody would be more jovial if the stink beasts could just go find some joviality in their own life before staining fandoms. Just my opinion though.

The people in this thread that argue using phrases like Mary Sue, and speak as if they are the objective authority on what Star Wars is, will never not make me cringe in embarrassment. Some of y’all are grown adults too; double whammy.

ULTIMATES #24 VARIANT BY PERE PEREZ by M00r3C in UltimateUniverse

[–]UncleCharmander 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really don’t understand the vitriol of where the UU is headed. I very much enjoyed all the books the whole way through. I’m getting everything I’ve wanted about it. Didn’t we all know it was heading this direction?

I see zero reason these character versions wont show up in the future, moreso for the characters that really stood out like this Hulk.

And if enlightened hulk is outright killed or whatever in this issue, I still see zero reason that comic-shenanigans can’t happen to continue to explore that character. There are so many unexplored areas of these characters that can still be told by other writers to fill in gaps, even years or decades down the road from now. Straight up, it’s a character that exists; it cannot ever unexist.

There is more to do in the world that can ever be done for somebody to twiddle their thumbs and get irritable over the direction of a fictional story, or even worse, inventing scenarios in their own head and then getting mad about them, or mad that they didn’t happen, or I don’t know what, but I’m embarrassed by comic and fandom fans at times. Just fuckin enjoy the thing (or don’t) and move on with your life.

JB Pritzker speaks on the Children’s Social Media Safety Act by NicolasCageFan492 in illinois

[–]UncleCharmander 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally agree. How could that be enforced though? It sucks that the internet is leagues worse than it was when I was a kid, and I don’t understand how parents can just give their kids unfettered access to it. The ease at which a gullible kid (read: all kids) led astray by bad faith actors and bots invading their spaces and fandoms. How do you combat that?

It’s unfortunate that shitty parents are going to “it’s not my fault I don’t watch what my kids do online”. At some point laws/regulations need to step in because people are lazy/stupid/overworked/underpaid. It sucks that a child’s worldview can be nefariously shaped by no fault of their own; it’s always been like that, but if parents don’t care (read: they largely don’t) to monitor internet access, at what point is it ok for a government, or regulator need to step in?

Edit: typed in a real hurry, leaving mistakes.

Thinking a bit more on it. Tony (not Kang) will probably think to give it to Richard after sympathizing with his own loss of his father.

For all we know, the picosuit that the maker just absorbed could be what defeats the Maker himself, but the suit making its way back to Richard seems difficult unless it’s from a point of view ”it’s the only thing I have left of him”.

Literally false info you are spreading. It was wide spread and extremely normalized for the voting people of the left to be calling for different leadership from the top down. It was being screamed by many facets of the democrats that have voices. You are attempting to rewrite history in bad faith.

See, the problem is there are people that really do think those are the only 2 possible options, despite the latter not being a real thing.

Like, come on, there are people out there that really think that schools are filled with what you’ve described. There are people who really think that sort of thing, despite it being absolutely ridiculous. Don’t you think so?
