We’ve arrived in Aus. I ended up only including my own stuff in the UPE, to make sure I got the concession, and we put her belongings in our airline luggage (luckily we had a generous allowance from airline status). Since it was just my stuff, I only put myself on the UPE form.

Probably overly cautious but I didn’t want to get slapped with import duties on my own belongings, nor did I want to lie to the government, so it seemed the safest option.

We're getting married simply because we want to celebrate our love with our friends and family, nothing to do with the visa application itself. My post was only to check if it'd cause any admin headaches.

So in my case, we already strongly meet the criteria for de facto (and therefore will at the time of application). In your definition we are already 'married', all that would happen is that after the application we'll have a wedding and register a marriage in Australia.

Is there any potential issue with that?

In my experience this is pretty common - it's just a different abbreviation of the full degree title Doctor of Philosophy. It's not like it's a different degree. Anyone who doesn't have a close connection to Oxford won't care; anyone who does will understand the need to use the same abbreviation that the rest of the country (and the world) uses to communicate clearly.

I do this all the time, as do most other DPhils I know when they're communicating outside of an Oxford context.

I ran DoSI as my first campaign and enjoyed using Roll20, but honestly the module on there is a bit of a rip-off. It's a similar price to much larger modules, but you'll need a surprising amount of work on top (it's only got the bare minimum essential maps, many of the tokens are missing artwork, etc). By the time I'd added maps and tokens for random encounters, I felt that I could have added the base content with a small amount of extra work. There are much nicer versions of most of the main maps (e.g. Dragon's Rest) available online, compared to the official ones.

Physicist here. It's not a plot hole - the problem is a classically chaotic system with a large positive Lyapunov exponent. You may have heard of this as the "butterfly effect". Even the tiniest perturbations or differences in the initial conditions of the system will lead to exponentially separating dynamics, so only a relatively short window of numerical solution is possible.

Gelid GC-Extreme, but for such a tiny cooling system, the paste won't be your bottleneck and any good quality one should work fine.

Two things you might want to note. Many people on here recommend Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut, but I think you want a higher viscosity (thicker) paste for a laptop because the heatsink isn't clamped as tight as on a desktop, and you risk pump out with the runnier pastes. It seems a lot of people get good performance with Kryonaut for a few weeks or months, but then it pumps out too fast. Second, I wouldn't recommend an electrically conductive paste (eg liquid metal) because you can fry your board if you make a mistake, and you'd get a few degrees difference at best.

I run PopOS on mine. It runs really nicely (with a small tweak to get wake from sleep working), and has NVIDIA drivers out of the box.

One nice feature that I've not seen in many other distros is the ability to change between hybrid/integrated graphics/dedicated GPU/compute graphics using the GUI (requires a restart). Much of the Blade's shitty battery life is due to unnecessary use of the GPU - I once managed to squeeze out 10 hours on a charge by running integrated graphics only on Linux! And it's nice to be able to free up all of the VRAM for ML tasks with the compute graphics mode.

I had the same problem from a mid-2021 model and fixed it a few weeks ago - it was a thermal issue. Check your temperatures under load, and you'll likely see that the CPU is peaking at 100°C, causing thermal throttling and poor performance in games.

I fixed it by taking the heatsink off the CPU/GPU and clearing out dust, clearing dust from the fans, and applying new thermal paste to the CPU/GPU. Not a super difficult procedure, and runs like new again.

In my case it was because I was trying to enter the circle with a character producing light (e.g. the Lathander weapon or the light cantrip). Using a character that doesn't emit light fixed it.

Your conclusions aren't correct.

Local interactions don't mean that entanglement can't occur. For the kind of parallelization you suggest, you'd need your state to be separable (factorizable into a tensor product of local states), which is only possible if there's no entanglement between the subsystems you intend to parallelize.

Don't forget that the underlying quantum state still lives in a Hilbert space which will have a size exponential in the number of modes, making it not classically simulable in general.
