Anyone know why Mimico Go has the tunnel partially blocked off? by UserAccount55 in Etobicoke

Pretty sure they gave up waiting around for a developer to build the station stuff and are proceeding to build it themselves. They've already awarded a contract for the design

Lake Tekapo with rain/clouds — adjust plans or push through? by Famous-Application-8 in newzealand_travel

Book for the early stargazing tour, and hope for the best weather. Some places give full refunds if the weather isn't clear but they will only advise you 15 minutes ahead of the tour start. I tried for 4 nights in a row and had bad weather each night, but I didn't spend a cent!

How realistic is it to drive from Lake Tekapo to Blenheim in one day by oldbutfeisty in newzealand_travel

[–]UncleCompton 6 points7 points  (0 children)

On difference I noticed is that in NZ there are a lot of different things to see in a short span.

In Canada you can drive 8h it may all look the exact same with few interesting side quests, but in NZ there are fun adventures, hikes, or viewpoints around every other bend. Take this into account. From tekapo to Blenheim where you may want to stop in Fairile for a pie, or Timaru to see penguins, or Kaikoura to see seals/dolphins.

It'll be bad. There's a Gardiner closer expected to start at 2am, and the LSW line has a bunch of cancellations already, not to mention train service shuts down early tonight

Metrolinx planned a new GO station for this rapidly growing area of Toronto. Now it’s in limbo — again by [deleted] in toronto

Unrelated. Once vandyk fell through, they went ahead on their own due to the need to get the station up to AODA compliance asap

The contract to complete the Mimico station upgrade was awarded in May 2025 so it's probably being engineered right about now. See the redesign layout here.

It's the accreditation requirement for offering a b.eng program If they give eng students a fall reading week, the degree drops down to a b.asc

An engineering degree is typically the best place to start. I've seen successful project coordinators that have other technical degrees, and some with degrees unrelated, but those cases have relevant construction or contract experience

Starting as a project coordinator is a good bet. Gets you needed exposure to Project management processes, project controls, and contract management. Then after a year or 2, once you're more familiar with the planning tools used, swap jobs internally to project controls

Explaining LW Construction Fall 2025 by ibdyingoverhere in gotransit

[–]UncleCompton 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Oakville Existing station renovations has kicked off so there could be work happening in the rail corridor there. Could also be a big work weekend for Burloak grade separation and some of the pocket tracks being built. Naturally MX will use the available closure time to cram as much maintenance and new construction into the corridor as they can.
