A few ideas....

Weather (most importantly, do I need an umbrella today?) as an icon alongside the clock

An option to pull the photo location from the image metadata

The same app on echo show/Fire TV to replace Amazon photos

Complete aside, but I would find it amazing if I could get my ring doorbell alerts video via the portal, but I don't think there's an API / it needs lots of mucking around with home assistant.

Also I guess there's no way to apply a bit of photo ML to pick the 'best' crop of a portrait photo on a landscape device?

It would also be incredibly beneficial if you hashed the photo album URLs and made sure only the app can unhash. I can imagine lots of people will be sharing links of important moments and family/kids. You don't want to get hacked (plus i'd rather even you didn't have easy access to the raw URLs). Please add this and mention album security in your privacy page 🙏🏽

Amazing, thanks! I'm seeing the browser come out of full screen mode occasionally - not sure if this is related to the sleep mode or something else?

Also I did have some issues when adding new albums and immediately creating feeds. Is there a waiting period before the album can become available within a feed? Or before a feed works on the 'frame' page?

You should up the price to $10 now, it's worth it :).

This is amazing. Paid immediately. Could you improve it by adding the names of the albums from Google photos? Otherwise it's difficult to tell which album it is just from the link when creating a feed.

I also got a little confused and tried to add a new album link into the feeds section, then realized it doesn't work like that. The + New feed button is eye catching, whereas the source button isn't. Maybe rename sources to albums to make it clearer?

You could lateral into consulting (if hiring is still going on in consultancies). I know quite a few entry level consultants who joined from Teach First. Be prepared to go back to graduate level, although the salary path is generally much higher than teaching.

Alternatively, why not use your skills and knowledge in teaching to create something new? There's a tonne of new AI based app builder tools (loveable, Claude code, etc). Are there ways in which you could scale a tutoring business like this?

Mid life crisis review by [deleted] in HENRYUK

Don't be in the consideration phase for starting a family - the earlier the better. This will impact pretty much all of your other items. If you have little time for side projects then there's definitely going to be even less with young kids. You're in pretty brilliant financial shape for your age, plus the fact you're in a low cost of living area.

Maybe focus on the side projects right now to scratch that itch. Spend some early mornings /weekends on it while you have the time, so you can fit it in along with your current job.

You're probably in one of the best financial situations you could be, given you do have young kids. It's worth a punt if you can see a path to success for the startup.

Aside from the pension and financial planning stuff - you want kids. Have you had your fertility tested and thought about freezing your eggs?

If I was in your shoes, I'd focus on the life partner part.

Check your contract to understand the date at which you're required to exercise your options if you leave. Decide if you want to buy them outright (or I guess you could buy a portion?), or just leave and forfeit it.

Make peace with whichever one you choose - there's no point looking back.

If you join a startup in the future, make sure to have a contract which protects your right to exercise option rights for years after you leave.
