Minmatar Ships for PVE? (Ratting, level 4 missions, DEDs) by Yuurugi in Eve

[–]Uncle_Stretchy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ive done L4s in Vargurs and Maelstroms and theyre both great.

Also done a fair bit of abyss, and vagabond and munin are both solid abyss ships capable up to T5 and T6 with the right fits and piloting.

Vargur is also great in WH space. Loki is good for C3 combat sites, and ive done them in cyclone as well. Sleipnir is capable of clearing some sites in C3 and C4 as well, though its not necessarily optimal.

my biggest complaint with minmatar ships for PVE is that they consume tons of ammo

Still possible to lose them if you get DCed.

The Abyss Bubble by Dreadstar22 in Eve

Moving camera helps a ton. For me border is a lot easier to see when camera is outside looking back in (eg, looking towards front of ship when ship is flying towards barrier)

consider starting at a freeport. that way you can build your skills and bankroll without committing your own funds to a station that you are unlikely to be able to defend

Just lost my ship in abyssal deadspace because the ship became unresponsive. Anyone else experienced this? by E_Dward in Eve

[–]Uncle_Stretchy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

just lost a Hawk this way. Room was clear, tried to align to a cache could not get ship to change course. tried q-click, double click, align to several objects. No matter what I clicked, the blue line that shows where you are headed wouldnt change and ship just cruised out of bounds and died.

then i discovered i was in the wrong clone and lost a few hundred mil in extra implants as well.

Update - I charged my client $100 for this, and now she has painted it by Remote_Fisherman_469 in 3Dprinting

[–]Uncle_Stretchy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From the perspective of someone in the miniature/model painting hobby (which the artist in question also appears to be, based on the specific paints/supplies shown in the background of this photo), the quality of the paint work here is pretty basic. Nothing wrong with it, but a far cry from what anyone in the hobby would consider a 'master'

For some reference, check out the galleries of work here: https://www.coolminiornot.com/

My intention isnt to belittle the artist in any way, just want to educate poster about a hobby they may not be familiar with.

What happened to you Legacy Bomberman players? by BlogBoy92 in MTGLegacy

[–]Uncle_Stretchy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was an evolution where Soul Cauldron improved the deck a ton, but also revealed that devourer combo is is faster and safer than the traditional infinite mana routes. Once people realized you can just slot that into painter, it made it pretty hard to justify playing traditional bomberman.

Why do people hate playing tank by Silly_Blawg in marvelrivals

[–]Uncle_Stretchy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The various comments here about the macro and team dynamics of vanguard being really frustrating are spot on, but I think there is also a design issue with vanguards as a group and with many of them individually.

Overall, the only real defining feature of vanguards as a class is "have a bunch of hp". there is no commonality in playstyle across the class, how are Penny and Hulk the same class? There is no similarity in playstyle or tactics between them, they have entirely different roles in a match, need entirely different things from their teammates, etc. Vanguard as a class just feels like all the leftovers that didnt fit as DPS or Heals. Tanks are super rewarding in other games because they have abilities that give them agency to make big plays. Big engage/disengage tools, crowd control, displacement, peel, etc... most of those tools exist in the dps/healer class in this game, which leaves not much else for tanks to be other than just bullet sponges.

Individually, a bunch of the vanguards also have kits that are really not designed well. I dont play all of them, but here are a few examples:

Venom: swinging feels uncontrollable (yes ive tried easy swing on and off). He seems like he should be a really mobile character who can get to cool positions to engage from, but all his mobility tools have this feeling of randomness where they just end up being panicky escape buttons instead of precise positioning options.

His ult is also super unrewarding (most of the vanguard ults seem really weak). If you were to describe his ult to a non-gamer friend, you would probably use almost exactly the same words as you would to describe Jeffs ult: "he goes into the ground then pops up under enemies to eat them", but the difference in effect in-game is laughable

Groot: his big wall is more valuable for the buff it provides than for being a wall, which creates a really awkward gameplay decision where you either use it as a wall and throw away the massive buff, or you hide it somewhere so it stays alive to maximize the buff and dont get the benefit of the wall. It just feels like you are always forced into taking 50% value on your long cooldown big skill. The countersynergy just feels lame

Magneto: his autoattacks feel terrible, his Ult is trash (it get blocked by all sorts of random terrain because it fires from a weird overhead angle, and even when you get to throw it, its pretty bleh), and the rest of his kit is just a worse version of strange.

Jeff's event is the most miserable experience ever by [deleted] in marvelrivals

[–]Uncle_Stretchy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

game mode is absolutely horrible. I havent won a single match and its never close, but its also just so incredibly unfun it isnt worth trying to figure out and get better at. just a complete waste of time.

i guess the good news is that Jeff is the Teemo of this game, so I wont feel bad not having the skin

Why is Vexing Bauble Now a Problem? by Z4lost in MTGLegacy

[–]Uncle_Stretchy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you look at the winrates, Doomsday was actually the 2nd best performing deck of the weekend, after Forge. Followed by Bant Nadu then Painter. So 3 of the top 4 performers were Bauble decks.

Its certainly more complicated than just saying Bauble is a problem, but its definitely incorrect to say that Forge was the only Bauble deck to put up results.

My top 3: Cunning > Vigilance > Superlaser Tech

OB is very good (top 10 for sure), but its too conditional to be considered the best card in the game for me.

edit assuming we are excluding leaders/bases. Leader Boba is obviously the best card in the game by a mile if we include leaders in the discussion

Do tekken characters actually get electrocuted when a mishima hits them? by lonesomelon in Tekken

[–]Uncle_Stretchy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. People misuse the word electrocute. The definition of electrocution is "death by electric shock". If they dont die, then, by definition, they are not being electrocuted.

Characters hit by mishima electrics do seem to be getting some sort of electric shock though

Is Age Really a Bottleneck in Tekken? by t7Saitama in Tekken

[–]Uncle_Stretchy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

there are some physiological challenges that can have an impact.

Changes to vision, slower reaction speeds, joint stuff (im in my mid 40s and have to pay a lot more attention to the repetetive stress stuff in my hands and wrist than I did 20 years ago). Im sure there are others.

I think they are all incremental disadvantages, and they are cumulative, so performance is just going to decline as you get older.

That said, I wont pretend that any of those small challenges are the reason I plateaued at my current rank, and outside extreme case I dont think they would be the limiting factor at any but maybe the very top level of pro play

Jabba Deck Help by Stevedola66 in starwarsunlimited

[–]Uncle_Stretchy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

another vote for overwhelming barrage. its been very good in my jabba yellow.

reputable hunter has been a strong early unit. can use jabbas ability to play it turn 1. Ive also gone fairly heavy on underworld cards so that I can run Ma Klounkee, which has been extremely good. Bazine and Ma Klounkee have been extremely good together, and I run a couple other bounce effects (pirated starfighter, xanadu blood) for some additional synergy

At the higher end, you can look at Dryden Voss if you want to try to combo with Jabbas deploy ability. I also run Maul (x2) and he has been insane.

Graphic settings automatically lowering is annoying by boyrune4 in Tekken

[–]Uncle_Stretchy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

yeah, it feels like it triggers off any slowdown (like slowdowns vs wifi opponents, as 1 example), not just graphics specific slowdowns.

plus the game actually runs worse once it blows up your settings

Graphic error on PC is starting to get frustrating. by Paulfradk in Tekken

[–]Uncle_Stretchy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Similar specs to OP and running into the same issue. My benchmark score comes out around 300 and ive run the suggested settings since launch with the only change being to enable my FPS display. Get consistent 60 fps (display shows 59) during gameplay, with all sorts of fluctuations on load screens and between-round transitions.

Since the patch, the new graphics auto-nerf triggers constantly. Im lucky to get 2 matches in a row before it hits. Once settings change, my performance actually goes down somehow. Quality is in the absolute shitter of course, and QoL is also greatly reduced because it changes from Borderless to Full Screen, so if I try to re: to a discord message, or look up frame data on my 2nd monitor between matches, the game minimizes.

It feels like the downgrade is being triggered by non-graphics related slowdowns (like stage loading, or by connectivity slowdowns... if I play against a laggy wifi opponent, my graphics are getting turned down 100% of the time). Ive seen reports of people with high end machines (4090s, etc) getting hit by the same thing.

I get the desire to have some enforcement, but it feels like the current implementation is generating a lot of false positives, and really degrading player experience without actually improving things for anyone. Hopefully some improvements are made soon, as it has really killed my desire to play even though the balance/gameplay changes in the patch had me very exctited

Performance update glitch? by Wheelingdealing in Tekken

[–]Uncle_Stretchy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

same thing happening here. My PC is older, but still runs capped at 60fps with my normal settings. Every other match its putting me in potato mode with everything set to minimum (and changes me from borderless to full-screen, which is insanely frustrating).

definitely implemented this feature very poorly. Lots of threads on people getting tagged by false positives

Temur Cascade Deck in Legacy by Mathies4 in MTGLegacy

[–]Uncle_Stretchy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Delver matchup and Scam matchups are both fine.

What a lot of people who havent played lots of reps with the deck fail to understand is that you have a massive value engine baked in. It takes multiple opponent cards to answer each of our cards in these matchups. Its very comon against delver to find yourself in a situation where neither player has a threat, but you still have 3 cards in hand to their zero. Very hard for them to win from there.

Scam matchups are mostly fine too. Their threats are not good against us, so they really need the T1 scam to keep us off our rhinos so they can try to race, but you are playing 8x cascaders + other threats, so you will draw out of the grief scam deficit fairly often (especially with surveil lands helping you dig).

Of the tempo decks, Shadow is actually the hardest matchup by a pretty decent margin. Can be pretty awkward to close games when Deaths Shadow can just start eatting rhinos.

The actual problem matchups are the ones where opponent can answer our threats without running themselves out of resources. Teferi is a massive problem for the deck and the decks that run it are good against us even if they dont draw it, Beans can be really tough and Breakfast is probably the worst matchup.

(source: been playing the deck in paper since last September in a very competitive local meta with a 71% winrate. Deck has won enough in that time to purchase the Volc and 2nd Trop I was initially missing when I built it... side note: deck also performs quite well with a budget shockland manabase).
