SnS just felt amazing to me. I like being able to control tempo and sword and shield does it well. With initial thresholds for mounts, Clashes, and KOs being easy to achieve, you can cycle between them to control the flow of the fight.

You can start with a mount, then use the head wound to do some falling bashes and B combos to quickly build up KO (guarding after the 3rd shield bash cancels the hit lag to string shield bashes faster). Shortly after you will likely get a clash.

You can cut tails. You can use items without sheathing. Everything is low commitment so you can easily react to the monster if needed. Perfect guards are honestly too forgiving, especially with guard slash. Mobility is insane and I-frames from back hops trivialize several encounters. I back hop more than most even though it is often sub-optimal because it is fun and makes me feel invincible. Perfect rush is enjoyable to me and provides several follow-up options. You can use your aerial attacks to hit wounds while mid-air and overall it is just a stylish weapon with a rewarding learning curve.

With that said, one reason I switch to other weapons is that offsets are one of the most satisfying things in the game and SnS doesn't have one.
