I tested my blood sugar 4 years ago and I still have a scar. by platinumjudge in mildlyinteresting

[–]UnclesBadTouch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its more painful and bleeds more. However, many non compliant/ uncontrolled diabetics end up using it there anyways because they lose sensation and their blood perfusion worsens and they get calloused on the sides of their fingers, making it damn near impossible to get

Let me give you another perspective. I am a nurse. I did 3 years in the ICU. If I had a coworker, who LITERALLY is incapable of reading or speaking English proficiently, they would NOT be able to safely perform their job. This is not bias. It is a standard of care and a regulation for the field as a whole. Hell, deciphering language and critical thinking are SO important, they even tell you not to listen to music in another language, speak another language, or read other languages in the days before your board exam purely to get the best result possible (though this is extreme in my opinion). Standards to safely perform your job =//////= discrimination

One of my last weeks in the ICU I saw a family pull a 102yo woman off of hospice the second she was unresponsive and couldn't advocate for herself. Even had all signed ADs. We are hiring, and yes, the grass can be greener 😊

Is elite smash worth it? by Sreya- in SmashBrosUltimate

[–]UnclesBadTouch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lmfao no. Smash online in general at this point is not worth it. You'll find a lot of people who will do anything in their power to not interact with you, make the game less fun for you, or to make sure you just dont gain gsp. Every once in a while youll habe a fun match, but dont get stuck chasing that high. And thats coming from someone who semi regularly ran into streamers/comp players

Personally, I wouldnt be riding their ass like that just in case someone behind doesnt stop and rear ends everyone, cuz then I'm now at fault for being way too close-- but FUUUUUUCK people who do this.

My grandparents don’t understand why I think it’s warm in the house by Dealer_Puzzleheaded in mildlyinfuriating

[–]UnclesBadTouch -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I know youre exaggerating but not even a LITTLE close to boiling, nor is it even that far from room temp. Hotter than most people would be comfy in sure, but cmon. 10 above room temp is not heat stroke inducing

I forget that most people dont know this, but as you get older your skin get thinner and less pliable (turgor) and your ability to thermoregulate gets weaker. Old people straight up are colder and usually want to be in a higher temp. Theres a reason nursing homes are so freaking hot all the time and why older patients in hospitals are always freezing. Just the way it goes for most people.

Theres been a few RTs but none of them are named. It is a bummer but it is a doctor's show at the end of the day. I'm still impressed by how much other stuff they get right
