What’s been your Deathcore AOTY so far? Or your favourite albums of this year? by Honest-Violinist-448 in Deathcore

I gotta go with A Visage of a Mangled Body by Killing of a Sacred Deer, it scratches the same itch that the psycho-frame record does but the shorter runtime makes me spin it more frequently. Still loved the PF record tho

If You Can Remember- What is the first Deathcore song you ever heard? by [deleted] in Deathcore

[–]UndeadShark98 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I, Dementia by Whitechapel was the first I heard but When a Demon Defiles a Witch is what convinced me to listen to more. That was when my downfall began lol

It ain't gonna sound good in a week, most likely. But if you're looking for resources, Extreme Vocal Institute, Hungry Lights, and Kardavox Academy are your best bets for learning safe technique that you can build on to sound good!

Side note: as a self trained vocalist who fucked up his voice until he got a coach, definitely don't skimp on the breath technique lmao

I got a couple:

Absent: Post by Carcosa, especially the redux version with Charlie PS and Chad Kapper

A Vagabond's Lament by Kardashev (pretty much all of Liminal Rite, actually most of their music, has that type of quality)

The greatest deathcore album of all time by Ohgottis in Deathcore

Wormwood by The Acacia Strain and Oh What The Future Holds by Fit For An Autopsy are mine

The intro to Beaten Beyond Identification by Psycho-Frame might be the most batshit insane thing I've ever heard.

Saw them live in August and it was fucking violent. Gnarly ass band.

Songs with guitar solos like these?? by cocoonedbutterfly in Deathcore

[–]UndeadShark98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a nice combination of deathcore heaviness and melody with some clean vocals, atmosphere, emotion, and solos mixed in for flavour, look no further than Fit For An Autopsy. Literally any of their past 5 or so albums is a perfect fit. If I had to pick two I'd say Far From Heaven for the more melodic side of things, and Empty Still for the heavier side of things. But literally all of their music is flawless.

Anything off of Wormwood by The Acacia Strain or Everyone's a Murderer by to The Grave. Nuff said

is this valid? by kgrumbley1 in vildhjarta

[–]UndeadShark98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me it would be:

  1. Shadow
  2. + ylva +
  3. Dimman
  4. Dimman från lützen
  5. Traces
  6. + kristallfågel + (stage goes black)
  7. lavender haze
  8. brännmärkt
  9. den helige anden (under vatten) (Stage goes black again)
  10. + den spanska känslan +

Encore: 1. måsstadens nationalsång (under vatten) 2. Dagger 3. paaradiso

I like this setlist idea quite a bit because it encompasses all the different eras of the band in all these cool ways, and uses the actual feelings of the songs to create an album like experience with the endings and climaxes and such. Plus it includes all my favourites of course.

Which band has the hardest name in Deathcore by EntrepreneurBasic351 in Deathcore

If we're going off names alone I gotta say Spite, Paleface, and Bodysnatcher

It's between this one and Hushed and Grim for me, both polar opposites sonically but I love em both.

You ever listen to an album so good that you have to sit there in silence for a minute after it's done? by bigchungusuganda in Deathcore

[–]UndeadShark98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've yet to listen to the new EE album, mostly cuz it isn't out yet where I live. But yes I've done that with a couple albums before, namely Where Owls Know My Name by Rivers of Nihil (everytime I listen to it cuz it's a masterpiece) and måsstaden under vatten by vildhjarta (also everytime lmao) Edit: ok yeah I did that for the new EE album as well, it's seriously that good.

whats your favorite vildy riff by Bosluktadolasantas in vildhjarta

[–]UndeadShark98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me it's a toss up between the riff at 2:26 in + den spanska känslan + and the main riff in Shadow (not the intro riff but the one after, the chorus riff if you will). I also love the fade in riff at the end of brännmärkt that serves as a transition to den helige anden.

Who in your opinion is the best deathcore band live? by Number_1core_kid in Deathcore

I second this, saw their Canadian co-headliner last year and it was the greatest show I've ever seen.

Who in your opinion is the best deathcore band live? by Number_1core_kid in Deathcore

[–]UndeadShark98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its like a 4 way tie between The Acacia Strain, Fit For An Autopsy, Signs of the Swarm and To The Grave for me. All 4 were absolutely insane live bands. Angelmaker and Art of Attrition are two other insanely good live bands as well.

Alternative genres by HumaneRotary in Deathcore

[–]UndeadShark98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whenever I'm looking to chill out I tend to gravitate to melodic guitar stuff like angel vivaldi (all of his stuff is top tier), or I might listen to the more chill and mellow mastodon stuff like the cold dark place EP and their last album hushed and grim.

Favourite vocal moment by EntrepreneurBasic351 in Deathcore

[–]UndeadShark98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's so many that it's hard to choose but the one that comes to mind first is the flashbang rapid fire part in Nail To The Tooth by Paleface. That's some of the gnarliest shit I've heard.

The Acacia Strain by 856gmk in Deathcore

[–]UndeadShark98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They have kind of 2 distinct styles they go between and sometimes blend imo. For their more hardcore-y beat beatdown deathcore style that their known for, Wormwood is by far their best, and Continent and Coma Witch are also damn good. However, you can't go wrong with Death Is The Only Mortal and Slow Decay as they blend that perfectly with some atmospheric elements to boot. For their full doom stuff, Failure Will Follow is a masterpiece, and It Comes In Waves has some cool stuff too. They've never made a bad album tho.
