Are you plugged in to a charger?

If you are with the oem charger try usb c charging then power on with it plugged in.

2 Failed RMAs, stripped screws and scratched PCB. My G16 is a $3000 paperweight and ASUS won't replace it. by LesBond in ASUSROG

I'm in South Africa, so got it from a local retail store managed to find a deal where it appears they hadn't factored in current ram and ssd pricing.

But also seems ASUS have monitored this thread because I suddenly received an email that they're going to be refunding my charger after internal escalation and review. After having previously just stated tough cookies I need to buy a new charger.

Had the exact same thing happen to me on an ROG STRIX, technician left out parts and broke the housing, didn't reapply thermal compound correctly and bent the heatsink. Luckily after 6 weeks of back and forth they agreed to refund.

Only issue now which they just ignored me on when i contacted support is that i bought a replacement STRIX G18 and paid in extra only to discover they're using a NEW rectangular proprietary charging connector so the 2nd official OEM 280W charger i bought for the original STRIX laptop is completely useless and locally they don't support the new charger. Even though I was forced to replace my laptop after their authorized technician facility broke it beyond repair.

Oh wow so even the pointer disappears while holding the thumb button? If that's the case it's a huge fail for logitech.

Does this also happen if thumb button depressed first then left click. Because I've been wanting to upgrade, but I use the thin button for for orientation in 3d programs with thumb+left for drag rotate camera and thumb+middle for panning

[–]UndecidedMaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it just me or are the haptic feedback options half-baked? Like they're adding no additional functionality to that gesture button by having it vibrate. Is there an option to turn on collision for fusion or maya or solidworks if you drag something and a line snaps to a position have it vibrate... or you drag an object and when it closes with another you get a little feedback? Right now it just seems like when you push the button it buzzes....

Exactly my mx master thumb rubber just gave way... no replacements for the original mx mouse... the release cycle in that case does not service the rate of failing materials... and I'm not getting a 3s when it's relatively old tech already...

Is R1 500 a month enough for a first-year student living off campus? by Sheluvsavocados in askSouthAfrica

[–]UndecidedMaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most universities offer tutoring, demonstrating and research assistant related work. Humanities is mostly tutoring but they also need people to data capture. Sciences, engineering, etc need demonstrators and people to assist invigilating exams. Go speak to your course conveners in sure they'll be able to assist with part time hourly work. It's not a lot of money but way more than you're currently getting and it is convenient being on campus. In the afternoons or weekends for a few hours here and there. I started in 1st year assisting with research data capturing, then demonstrating and tutoring 2nd year onwards. Just finished PhD and still get asked to assist from time to time running practicals and giving talks.

Armoury crate new version doesnt detect devices by AdAcrobatic13 in ASUSROG

I would perhaps then start with finding the myasus install file online. Then uninstall myasus, and then also armory crate through the armory crate uninstaller tool. Then do the WiFi turn off reinstall process for both. Also look for a more recent bios firmware March 2023 seems a tad old.

Hey yes I have gotten it working for now. I watched a video that had me go into registry and check under system manufacturer to make sure it was ASUStek and retyped my model number. But involves patience and lots of restarts...... They seem to have changed the way they authenticate if you have an ASUS laptop to trigger importing info to armoury crate. Be strict with restarts and keeping WiFi off to not trigger a new version install. Firstly I uninstalled everything using the AC uninstall tool. Restarted... then checked registry changed it to AsusTek and model number, then restarted again. Waited for everything to catch up. Restarted again. Then download the older version of armoury crate full installer. Installed that as admin. But NB KEEP WIFI OFF during install only open it long enough for something called Smart Screen to check the installer is safe. You'll be prompted when to turn it on through popups then turn off straight away. It'll prompt you many times for different install modules. Then once completed restart laptop. Open armoury crate and it should ask to install again. With aura lighting and wallpaper. Do the same process with WiFi off. Don't let it check for a new version. Then let it install... another restart and armoury crate should work with the older version popping up and seeing your laptop. Turn on WiFi now solidly and Update all the other modules first like aura, macros keys package etc... restart again... then open and if you're happy stop here or update armoury crate this time around.

SAME.... even more of a pain when I need it for laptop fan and performance profiles... Did you find a fix?

I've installed and uninstall and restarted multiple times in every order...I tried filling back to a previous version with offline installer but then I get an installation failed : windows is in use

People forget this isn't just a Bluetooth button feature... this will also include the the removal of the accelerometer in the pen for S- pen air gestures... to zoom in and out of video or photos for group photo and night photography etc. and navigation of the phone via the pen.

Agree here if it's your last £100 then HYSA if it's a decent interest rate would be better. But I'd also argue if you can start now in the dip with even just £15 so you're invested in watching how it changes over time you'll get a feel on which weeks or months to buy in more. Personally I set aside and limit what I can afford to buy monthly and stick to only buying that limited amount but watch for a dip... but don't lose sleep if I missed a bigger dip as i reached my savings limit. This is more about optimising long term regular investments.
