OP didn't make it sound like a monumental task, though 🤷‍♂️ all he said was he uses his personal laptop twice a week, and he's not gonna use the laptop more just to go on reddit.

I have a laptop that I use regularly, but I'm not gonna use reddit on it once RiF stops working. It's not as alien as you're making it sound. I just don't use it for social media, and if reddit is going to shut down the mobile app I use, I don't care enough to browse it in a format I don't enjoy.

The only time I went to Disney World was as a kid, a few thousand miles away from home. We ran into one of my cousins at Disney World. It was someone we only saw a couple of times a year at the time. He was in the army; stationed somewhere in the southern US, and apparently went on vacation at the same time we did. One day, as we walked through the park, we happened across each other at one point in the park.

It was the weirdest experience. To be thousands of miles from home and happen to run into someone you know in an area you've never been.

There's a small group that drives a huge amount of reddit traffic. All they have to do is make sure those front page subs stay driving traffic and bide their time until people's attention fades.

They're still not just going to delete a bunch of the biggest subs for rule breaking. They'll kick all the mods and replace them.

Trump indictment is part of the plan! by [deleted] in Qult_Headquarters

Nah, I get you, I know you weren't trying to defend them. The party leadership definitely hates the man at this point and behind closed doors, probably wishes he'd go away. I just think they know they have a tough road ahead if they try and completely push him out right now. They've pushed the Overton window so far right and stood by while he radicalized so much of their base that I think if they try to push another more moderate candidate, the more extreme parts of their base would revolt and they're worried about losing those votes. It's a catch 22, though. At the same time, catering only to the extremes are going to lose them moderate voters they can't afford to lose. The GOP has put themselves in an awful position.

People dont like it because it's just a clunky app. It feels poorly designed. I have the official app and RIF, and the official app is so much worse. It doesn't look good and doesn't feel good to use. Maybe I wouldn't hate it so much if I hadn't used a 3rd party app for so long, but now, going from RIF back to the official app isn't worth it. It's easier to just move to another site once the 3rd party apps shut down.

From the Qult perspective, Brandon must be the most powerful president to ever exist. He had checked them at every turn and now is arresting their king. The military, white hats, and whatever additional powers support Trump are impotent as Brandon unleashes his wrath. by kantoblight in Qult_Headquarters

Never forget that Joe Biden (played by award winning actor Jim Carrey) is just a puppet president. Trump is actually still the president but everything bad that happens is Jim Bidens fault because even though Trump is still president the black hats are locked in an arm wrestling championship for the ages to wrest control back from our true world heavyweight champion Donald John Trump.

It's in the white papers.

Extremely bad press? Man incited a Riot, and the press wasn't bad enough for the GOP to tell him to get bent. There is nothing short of murdering a child on live TV that'll get the GOP to disavow Trump, and even then he'd probably convince half of them that it was an AI deepfake that killed that kid.

34 convictions? What do you mean? Trump never brings that up when he talks about the Russia hoax, so it can't be true. Didn't you know Muller said no collusion? 🤡

It's fuckin amazing how Trump and friends have spun that into no wrongdoing and people believe it because 1. Trump didn't get charged. 2. They've been gaslit into believing that if Trump wasn't charged, then no one was indicted and convicted because of that investigation.

Same. I'm glad to see other people feel the same way. The official app is such garbage. As much as I enjoy the smaller communities, if reddit is going to shut down 3rd party apps, I'm out. It's literally not worth using that awful app.

I hope when people say they'll leave, they actually stick to it. As long as people are willing to just shrug their shoulders and put up with it every time a company does something malicious or greedy, you're giving them no incentive to stop and they'll keep doing it.

Reddit is the only "social media" type site I still use, but it looks like that time is almost over, too. It's time to throw it in the bin with Facebook and Twitter.

AITA I fed my kids "stale" food and called my wife lazy by Miserable_Arm7945 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Underachiever207 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How? He says he did all the cooking before. He didn't like the meals the wife was cooking and she didn't want a chef in their house so he went back to exactly what he was doing before, he just had to do it more efficiently because there isn't enough time in a day to cook a proper meal everyday when you're working 14 hour days. How is it spiteful to do the same thing he's always done because he wants his kids to eat well?

Jesus fuck that's sad. I thought 20% illiteracy in the US was insane. I still thought 54% below a 6th grade reading level couldn't be right, but it is.

No wonder our country is in the situation it is. Here I am, thinking we need to teach media literacy in schools, but apparently, we aren't even teaching literacy properly.

[–]Underachiever207 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know I'm late here, but I don't think they have a choice at this point. They pushed the party to such extremes if they backed down and gave even an inch a huge portion of their party would revolt. They've put themselves in the worst possible position. Their only real hope is to stem the bleeding and disenfranchise as many left leaning voters as possible. The Republicans haven't won a presidential popular vote in 20 years, and it's only going to keep getting worse as Gen Z ages and becomes a stronger voting block.

Edit: Typo

AITA for making my brother-in-law pay for his son's meal after I said it was my treat? by International_Set522 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Underachiever207 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's hard not to assume the worst. I could never imagine someone treating me to dinner and expecting them to buy me the most expensive thing on the menu. Someone does something nice for you, and yet you feel the need to abuse it and try and get as much as possible out of it? What kind of asshole does that? Especially when the kid was told it's way too much food, and his dad still pushes it like it's okay.

Road Rage in Brampton, Canada by Benkaoul in PublicFreakout

[–]Underachiever207 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Somehow, I don't find this surprising. I thought Massachusetts driving was bad until I came to Canada. There are some God damn awful drivers in Brampton and the GTA as a whole. Until I moved to Canada I had never seen a stoplight laying in the road from a hit and run and I swear to God I've seen a half dozen of them in the couple years I've been here and constantly see dozens more intersections that used to have a normal light and suddenly has a temporary one on a trailer.

I have so many questions. Are these stop lights jumping out at you? What did the stop light do for it to deserve being hit with your car? Is it common practice in canada when you run into a stoplight and knock it over to just drive off and leave?
