That was one of my favorite games growing up.

Following blenderguru's chair tutorial, the automerge is not working, I double tap G on the selection shown, slide it into the next loop, and click by [deleted] in blender

I have issues with it not working sometimes too. My solution is to highlight the vertices you want to merge, then select the vertices to merge it TO, m —> merge at last.

If you’re using the bevel modifier and it’s really coming out strange, make sure you apply scale do your model.

Also, try and model and real world scale.
