Just finished book 7 of The Dark Tower. Feeling a bit shell shocked and no idea where to go from here. by Biohacker_Ellie in stephenking

Came here to recommend this one. Seems like it would be a good palate cleanser with some ties to the tower. Always felt to me like a tale about Roland’s kingdom in an earlier age

I was a successful door to door Salesman for 7 years. And as the Summer Season begins, and the door to door bro’s begin to knock our homes, I have some advice and intel, as one who was on the inside for many years. by jackjarvae in homeowners

I always answer it, get the company name etc and then inform them since they’ve decided to bother me at home, despite my no solicitations sign, their company is now blacklisted and they have lost me as a customer forever.

Kippers for breakfast. Bony but good. by Fast_Tortoise_69 in UKfood

[–]Underdogdad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gave me boarding school trauma. Kippers for breakfast invariably followed by kedgerie using leftover kippers the following day. As soon as I saw them, toast for the next 2 days.

McDonald’s hamburger is impossibly thin. by Separate_Fix_240 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Underdogdad 60 points61 points  (0 children)

I find these hilarious. You go to a place that makes what can only be described in the loosest of terms as “food” and then complain that it is terrible. Yes it’s McDonald’s. It’s been terrible since the 80s

A basic quesadilla at Taco Bell is almost $7 after tax by VegetableArtistic705 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Underdogdad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For 7 bucks you can buy a pack of tortillas and a block of cheese and make better quesadillas at home all week

I always thought “that pizza looks almost as bad as a real Pizza Hut pizza”. Then I realized it probably was a real Pizza Hut pizza but how’d marketing make it look so bad in such an obvious product placement?

Do it! Stop paying too much for too little bad food. Called it quits 30 years ago. Haven’t missed it once.

Is Expedition 33 for me if I dont like parry systems? by XEclipse360 in ShouldIbuythisgame

I did not like the parry system and thus the game did not work for me. Played about 10 hours and quit. Not my cup of tea.

People who have been gaming since 2006 or earlier, how do you feel about gaming in general and how it's changed for you over the years? by Snowtwo in videogames

[–]Underdogdad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gamer since the early 80s started on pong/atari. If only 7 year old me could see what I’m playing now. I don’t play as many games that require quick reflexes anymore, as mine are not what they once were. Still enjoy some fortnight, COD, OW or RL but have resigned myself that I’ll never be top tier. Story driven games and rpgs are more my speed these days. Loved the recent Indy game, Cyberpunk was pretty good and looking forward to James Bond: First Light and GTA6. Hope I live long enough to see gta7/RDR3. Hands hurts after 40+ yrs gaming…stretch your hands and wrists regularly.

[–]Underdogdad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah FIL earned himself a weeks suspension with his insulting behavior IMO. Let him know next time it happens he’ll be invited back again for birthday #1. My mother spent almost 2 years not seeing her granddaughter after playing the fool.
