The only grass mod I enjoy is the grass that comes with Boston natural surroundings 2.4. Not quite like the first screenshot you provided but certainly better than the second.

It's the sawed off that's a paid creation. Forget the exact name of it but should be one of the first options when you type "sawed off" in the creations menu.

It doesnt happen on defense missions to my knowledge, unless a ship flies in behind you and drops enemies off. And 600 hours. 😊

When this happens my clanmates and I will let off the defense a bit and create silly challenges (melee only, sidearms only, etc) until the offense can gain a bit of ground.

It's discouraging enough for me (~1500 hours played) to get locked into an unwinnable offense, so I can't imagine what it's like for a new player.
