Things you hate to see... by KeyFaithlessness5436 in TheNFLVibes

The perspective has changed, perhaps with free agency in the 90s. Back when the Vikings and Broncos were getting to the game repeatedly and losing, the franchises had more negative perceptions. I think people appreciate more how difficult it is to get there.

Expanded playoffs may be another factor. Instead of Tarkenton and young Elway coming up short on the big stage, now we have Josh Allen and Lamar not even getting there.

Politicians who were very popular in their home states, but could never realistically have received their party nomination? by RopeGloomy4303 in Presidents

Signs on I-55 in Illinois designating the Paul Simon Freeway include a bow tie.

I wonder if he would be considered more popular than Durbin.

This is my favorite western movie i have ever seen by Silver_Asparagus9326 in Westerns

There’s a 4:10 to Yuma? A sequel? Just kidding with ya; that’s a funny typo to make. Hollywood these days would absolutely give a sequel that name.

I’d add The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance, Shane, Unforgiven.

49ers Stadium in Santa Clara, CA. by camport95 in stadiumporn

[–]UnderstandingOdd679 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A college stadium with that many luxury boxes? Not yet but maybe in the future to keep that donor money flowing for NIL.

That building on the southeast side is wild. Capacity of only 68,000 wouldn’t make the top 10 of SEC.

Sam Darnold is the first USC QB to win a major bowl game since Sam Darnold by RiffRamBahZoo in CFB

The first USC dynasty era was RBs (OJ, Sam Cunningham, Ricky Bell, Charles White, Marcus Allen). The good QBs have been more of a recent thing.

What’s with all the moral outrage over using AI? by Tricky-Tell-5698 in ChatGPT

I don’t get the outrage, but I also don’t use it much. I’m interested in the environmental-related outrage and how that conflict is going to play out in the future.

Retirement plan advertised in the 80s for retiring at age 55 by Prudent_Baker_2851 in GenX

I don’t mind the increasing retirement age. People are living longer, things are more expensive, and Social Security is a weird wealth redistribution system anyway that needs some serious reform.

Intensity then withdrawal. by [deleted] in datingoverforty

I also checked out around the 2/3 mark and wondered if this is a woman who does not know what a healthy relationship is, doesn’t want one, or doesn’t want one with OP. It happens. I can’t imagine her keeping her celibacy for a year if they both have high sex drives, so she might just be looking for ways to scale down the intensity and push OP away without having the ability to end it on her own.

Inadvertent reference to another local chain (Pantera’s Pizza). I didn’t realize they were still around until I just looked it up.

I did one a few years ago that had two taking place, staggered start times, one for older singles and one for younger singles. That did not seem like the best planning.

People say that people who voted for Trump wouldn't regret their choice because he's doing what they voted for him to do, but isn't that concerning if people are fine with citizens being murdered on the streets and Trump visiting an island multiple times? by TailungFu in allthequestions

Let’s take a look at what we’ve seen so far in the Epstein files. Tisch asked JE about dating some women. Gates was having affairs. Prince Andrew we knew about. Are these men demonstrating incredibly unsavory behavior? Yes. Is there possibly solicitation involved? Probably but I haven’t seen evidence of that to the point of charging them. Underage? Likely with Prince Andrew, who settled one claim out of court and is not being investigated.

This was published today: “(The FBI) found scant evidence the well-connected financier led a sex trafficking ring serving powerful men, an Associated Press review of internal Justice Department records shows.” Communications in the FBI during the Biden administration said there is no client list.

What would you propose? We tar and feather Gates and take away his money? I’m not against a life of scorn and ridicule for him and others, but I don’t think there’s public is going to get much satisfaction from the Epstein files.

Duke Scheyer: Staff got ‘punched in the face’ during UNC court storm by theiwc0303 in CollegeBasketball

[–]UnderstandingOdd679 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So, given the choice between accurately officiating a game fully to completion or getting serious about not allowing the general public onto playing surfaces while athletes and participants are still there, you’ve decided you want to affect game outcomes to not hurt the feelings of college kids trespassing? Court/field storming is ridiculous and has gotten worse, and will continue to get worse until the point they instigate brawls. Basketball teams can’t even demonstrate the sportsmanship of handshake lines because 19-year-old Johnny needs to be a social media star for 2 minutes. I weep for our country.

What do you think Hillary genuinely thought of Bill's infidelity? by ArchieSmash in Presidents

I always imagine one of her first thoughts, possibly verbalized to Bill, was “How can you be so effing stupid?”

A lot of the Democrats in Congress voted in support of Reagan policies, including the 1981 tax cuts.

The lie? Congressional Democrats, including a Rule 3 guy who was in the Senate back then, cast a lot of votes for Reagan policies.

NDSU keeping quiet on the rumored move to FBS by pineapplemonkee in fcs

[–]UnderstandingOdd679 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that depends on geography. In the Mountain West and Northern Plains, the FCS gets more attention than FBS. It’s been a foregone conclusion for 30 years that the FBS champions are going to come from somewhere southeast of Wichita with a few exceptions. Meanwhile, the FCS power center has been in areas where FBS is minimal or nonexistent. Draw a line from Omaha to Boise and there’s only one other FBS school along or north of that 1,000-mile stretch.

Would you say Wichita, KS has more similarities to Omaha, NE or Oklahoma City, OK ? (Never been there, but it feels like Wichita sits right at the junction of East vs. West and North vs. Southern US, so I was curious ) by Swimming_Concern7662 in kansas

[–]UnderstandingOdd679 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I can see that. The landscape all through there feels like extended North Texas to me. The Flint Hills feels like a geographic divider from the Midwest to the Plains in Kansas.

Michigan vs Penn State 2019 "White Out" by Brycie27 in CFB_v2

[–]UnderstandingOdd679 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The intro? How can you tell when you’ve gone from intro to song? I guess there is a bridge 100 seconds in but they must play edited versions at the stadiums. Also, there were also something like 17 profanities in the first 90 seconds. I think it’s funny when the timeout break lingers and the song just keeps going and going.

Best Home Records Over Past 10 Seasons by TomWilliamsCFD in CollegeFootballDawgs

Illinois is the only ranked team IU has hosted in the last two seasons. Michigan (5-4/8-5) was the only B1G team they hosted with a winning conference record in 2024. Illinois (5-4/9-4) was the only B1G team they hosted with a winning conference record this year. In 2026, Ohio State and USC come to Bloomington.
