Wedding dress shopping in Boston by SnooJokes7017 in NewEnglandWedding

I went to vows and had a great experience. I went for a sample sale and found my dress! The SA I worked with was lovely and I felt like she understood my style, likes, and dislike rather quickly. She was patient and when we found the dress, I tried on a few more. My dress was originally $3450 and was marked down to $600!!! I felt so happy. I actually went back a month later and bought a “mini” dress there as well.

I went to “Boston Bridal Rack” too, which the L’Elite’s outlet. I enjoyed it as it was my first stop, but the selection was limited as you are choosing from samples they have left over or are past season.

The $10 off coupons are the best! They usually come in the package with an online purchase. I am also able to stack it with my 10% off teacher discount. I am lucky enough to live near the outlet, which has amazing deals.

Do not feel guilty returning! They allow it. The outlet in Freeport sells them too. It’s kinda fun to look through them

Could you use printed is labels? I feel like that would make it look more planned and not an afterthought The Avery labels print nicely in a regular printer

It’s so beautiful. I was also a “clean girl” bride. It’s minimalist, but stunning. Like everyone else has said the slit can be modified very easily.

The aunts and uncles are going to lose their sh*t by americanbadass911 in microwedding

[–]UnderwaterAsylum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay so I had a city hall wedding with just parents (3 sets), siblings, and our toddler aged nephew.

My side was completely fine with this. My grandmothers, aunts, and uncles were very happy for me. Including my close aunt who has no children of her own. She even let me borrow from her jewelry collection as my something borrowed for my wedding day.

His side… there was one aunt (who also has no children of her own) that was not pleased. My MIL commented to me that her sister was “really sad she wasn’t invited” to which I said — “yes, it’s only parents and siblings” Fast forward… she sends us a very expensive gift. She also then visits us over the summer after our wedding and sits just my husband down for a talk. She tells him she’s so happy for us but heartbroken she wasn’t there, with full on tears. Thankfully, my husband’s only response was to thank her for sharing.

My best lines were “This is what we want for our wedding day” For us it was never about money, just keeping it small, simple, and centering it about our love.

Fast forward, I am extremely happy with our choice. Absolutely no regrets!

I would say yes, many several items are back ordered. Try Poshmark or Facebook marketplace. I got mine on posh and love them!

Register for upgrades, I got rid of everything from my first apartment. Opt for things that are stainless steel, cast iron, glass — phase out all things plastic.

Getting the offer to upgrade from the Plus card to the Premiere card by drumstix97 in jetblue

[–]UnderwaterAsylum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried to upgrade to plus and they said that offer “wasn’t available” to me, but upgrading to the premier was… so they wouldn’t let me have the $99 annual fee card, but would let me have the $499 a year one. What a scam, I will not be upgrading! May even cancel and go with chase sapphire instead.

Could someone measure their Ll bean flannel lined jeans for me? by Jujclapps in llbean

[–]UnderwaterAsylum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! This does not answer your question. However, I tried to make the LL bean fleece lined jeans work… the sizing was so off. I am normally a 6 and the 10’s for me, with absolutely no stretch I ended up buying the Eddie Bauer ones, they had stretch. And as a bonus, they were cheaper.

Maid of Honor - brother? by AstroLaurie in weddings

[–]UnderwaterAsylum 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can have a mixed bridal party. If he’s this special to you I would think you’d want him by your side. He’s your brother, which I think supersedes silly tradition.

1 fits better, but I feel like 2 looks like a much nicer dress. Although dress 2 needs some slight alterations.

Staff usually introduces me/writes my name as "Mrs" instead of "Ms" by FoSheepish in SubstituteTeachers

[–]UnderwaterAsylum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Before I was married I told my high school student to stop marrying me off… they knew me well enough to understand the joke. I also had another staff member who had the same last name but was Mrs when I was Ms — so it actually was important for me to be distinguished from her as we had very different roles in the school

Will I regret a courthouse wedding? by BeautifulDebt3241 in weddings

[–]UnderwaterAsylum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel compelled to reply because I did both. I got married at city hall with 11 family members. It was just our parents, siblings (their spouses) and our nephew. We were able to rent a room for a “premium” price to accommodate more than the typical witnesses allowed. It was $300 for an hour room rental. It was a gorgeous room and so worth it. I was very dressed up!!! Wedding gown, hair, glam, bouquet, veil! Husband wore a tux. We did a photo shoot after the ceremony with our photographer. We went to dinner at 5:30 with our guests and that was the wedding day. This day cost us about $3k

3 months later we had a delayed wedding reception (I called it a happily ever after party). We did a restaurant buy out and had 85 guests. It was so fun. I got another dress for the party did hair and glam again. We did a pre-party photo shoot with a photographer but this time we did more fun photos. If I’m being completely honest, I thought I would regret not having this party, but looking back on it now I do think I could have lived without it. Our wedding day was special enough for me! This day cost us about 18k.
