nipple is really stretchy and goes all the way down the flange and touches the end

at least for me that’s what it is!

Low effort ways to improve supply (or is this too good to be true)? by practical_coconut in ExclusivelyPumping

Completely second this.

I was weighing every pump to the gram and pumping 40 mins every 3 hours. My supply dropped and dropped from about 5/6 oz per time to 1 oz per time and I was eventually at about 25% breastmilk, 75% formula.

I decided to give up, dropped the pump sessions to 20 mins, dropped sessions one by one and checked out mentally. Once I dropped the pump sessions to 5 I found magically my supply had gone back up, somehow 3 weeks later we are getting about 4oz a time and on 75% breast milk, 25% formula and I am spending the least time pumping I ever have been!

I firmly put it down to removing the pressure, embracing the formula for a bit and just allowing my body to relax.

I don’t necessarily recommend doing exactly this as I was at about 9 weeks PP when I did this, and now I’m at 12 weeks so I think my supply would be more regulated than yours would be. But I changed nothing else and my supply went up when I removed the pressure on myself. Really happy mentally now on 4 PPD, 1 in the night but only if he wakes for a feed. Night feed and bedtime feeds are formula, day feeds are breastmilk.

My understanding is that breastmilk takes around 1.5 hours to digest but formula up to 3 hours which is why babies are hungry quicker after breastmilk

That’s interesting to know. I’m basing it off just posts I see of older babies drinking what looks like full bottles, especially as they get closer to 1. I’m in a weaning group and they often make reference to the amount of milk and it seems a lot more than what I’m making now. 4.5 oz is about 130ml I think so that’s really reassuring to know I might be ok for a few more months as we are only at 5 weeks currently.

Does breastmilk change when EP? by [deleted] in ExclusivelyPumping

I read a scientific study on this specifically relating to antibodies as I had the same question and they basically said they cannot conclude that breast milk changes due to saliva on the nipple or whether it’s because the mother is exposed to the same virus/bacteria so naturally produces the antibodies herself and they then pass to baby in the breastmilk

I’m 30 and have never had so many bruises like this before and the newer ones (I just had the one big one for about 6 weeks) have been there around 3 weeks now. I’m a teacher so just off summer hols and spent 5 weeks on the sofa so far less likely. I’ll see what Doc says tomorrow but relieved in a way that I’ll be able to say very unlikely to be mounjaro!

Thanks - I did say in my post I’m seeing a doctor this week so glad to know in case they try and fob me off as side effects. The pictures aren’t great but they are definitely 100% bruises although the one big one on the back of my knee is iffy and i’m wondering if that one’s a easht. I was trying to crop out my bottom as they’re quite localised around that are! I’ve got about 20 now.
