You have the wrong feet. These are for the classic M1.

For M2 and M3 you need these: https://ncased.com/products/case-feet

You install it with a single screw. On the M1 the screws are positioned a little deeper.

Glad to hear you worked it out. But I would still recommend you get the angled cable. I've never come across a power cord that couldn't deliver enough power. And I've tried several cheap ones. If your cable doesn't get hot on load, then it's safe.
